“Beautiful hotel and view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

My wife and I spent the weekend in Branson and stay at the Chateau on the Lake Resort. Excellent staff and great rooms with views of Table Rock Lake. Great place to stay to avoid all the hustle and bustle of the downtown Branson crowds.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with balcony and lake view.

My wife and I stayed at the Chateau for a couple nights while attending a conference in Branson. Overall, the hotel is beautiful, well kept, in a great location, etc. etc. The front desk staff was welcoming. The elevator are quick (glass elevators are always fun). The Christmas decor was nice, tasteful and not over done.

I will say that the room neither of the keys (mine or my wife's) worked well in the lock. We were struggling with them when a bellman came by. He told us we had to put it in and pull it out fast (which sometimes worked and sometimes did not).
Our room was somewhat noisy as we were above the cooling fans and receiving dock (on the North side). I should have known better (other reviews below mention this).
Also, wifi was not included in the room rate (this seems to be more and more typical of upper tier hotels. I happen to think it is ridiculous. $10/day per device, FYI

We might stay here again but it is unlikely unless it is part of a conference or group.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the North side, especially on lower floors (noisy)

We have stayed at the Chateau the past two years and I can't say anything but good about it. The rooms were lovely, baths were clean, scenery was beautiful from the balcony, and the staff were
all pleasant and helpful, even opening the gift shop early for us last year as we were leaving early.
The hotel is decorated beautifully during the Christmas season. A very enjoyable stay, and we will
probably return next year.

Room Tip: Rooms looking out toward the lake are great.

My wife and I stayed here 4 nights during the first week of November, 2012. The room was okay, slightly dated, but did have a wonderful view of the lake and mountainside. The food at the restaurant was average but overpriced (ex. $8 for a waffle). Service was good though. I checked the night before that there would be a buffet breakfast as advertised the next morning and was assured there would be. Went down the next two mornings and was told the buffet was canceled because they thought the turnout would be low. Come on...tell us one thing and do another. Another issue was a very large RV that was parked lengthwise across 3-4 handicap parking spaces. The last issue was charging $9.95 a day per device for wifi internet access. This is the first and only place I have seen this. Every hotel or resort we stay at offers fast, free internet access. For this reason alone I would not stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your most recent visit. As always feedback from our guests is most welcome. You are correct; there are many motels, hotels and resorts that may choose not to charge for internet services. What I can tell you about our in-room internet Wi Fi service is that it is secure and our bandwidth is sufficient to handle multiple devices through out the resort at the same time. We do FREE Wi Fi service in our lobby area and in our Business Center.
Your very valid comment about our breakfast buffet will be shared with our F&B Director as to the lack of communication relative to its availability. Despite our shortcomings, hopefully we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

Sincerely,

Stephen Marshall

Great location on Table Rock Lake, comfortable beds, a relaxing bar, and a beautiful sunset view from the deck. A perfect hideway for a quite weekend. However, near the hustle and bustle of downtown Branson, if you want to venture out.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

We stayed at this hotel in October 2012 along with some friends. The property sits above Tablerock Lake and has a nice view. Inside it is much like a Radisson or Doubletree, built around an open center. The common areas are nice enough and the doormen are exceptionally nice.
Unfortunately both our room and our friend room were dirty. There was sticky dust on the wall all around the air return vent, the room seemed damp and the bath tun was not clean. Our friend's room was in pretty much the same condition except it also had a dirty toilet. Overall, the rooms are very dated and the bathrooms are in need of an update. We had a one-bedroom suite, which is the best available other than the presidential suite and found it disappointing.
After staying one night of a three night reservation we decided to check out and move to another hotel. I had booked my room through hotels.com but spoke to the room manager on site anyways. She was friendly and helpful and stated that the policy was to charge a one-night cancellation fee. In light of the issues, she said she would try to get that charge waived for one room, but that I would have to speak with hotels.com. Long story short, three weeks later and 4 calls to hotels.com I find out that Chateau has completely changed their story and have told hotels.com that they are charging a full three nights for each room, contrary to the policy stated by the room manager. After contacting a hotels.com customer service manager she was finally able to get them to waive one night for one room. Unbelieveable! We paid three nights for a one-night stay in a sub-standard room, and two nights for a one night stay for our friends room.
We will not ever stay at this property again. Even if the rooms are updated, it's clear they have a "the customer is always wrong policy." I would suggest staying at Big Cedar instead, or if you want to stay near downtown go to the Hilton, rooms are nice and clean and the restaurant is great.

It is always appreciated when our guests take the time to share their comments with us following their stay. It is understatement to say the least based on your feedback, that we certainly did not meet your expectations. In a forum such as this, at the stage, all I can do is to apologize for our shortcomings and to let you know that what you and your friend experienced is not in keeping with our own standards. Please know that you are welcome to contact me directly whereby allowing me the opportunity to discuss the billing issues you mentioned in your review and the other issues you had. I will do my very best, to solve this matter to an amicable solution.

Sincerely,

Stephen Marshall

The property is situated beautifully above table rock lake. The rooms were clean, and the service good. The outdoor pool is large and has a nice view of the lake. Our kids enjoyed the free movie and popcorn in the theatre. We were really looking forward to using the paddleboats in the marina, but it was closed during our stay for a wakeboarding competition.
