My husband and I stayed at Roark Resort from March 2-10, 2012 - right after the storm came twisting into town. We had a two bedroom unit (#383) which nicely overlooked the river in the back. The first bedroom was a queen bed and second with a king. It had two bathrooms, but only one had a shower while the second had a jet tub (both with sinks/toliets). Lots of space in the unit. Dated decor, but clean and well outfitted. We found we could easily cook - plenty of dishes available. We attended the Monday meeting breakfast and cocktail hour -- nice prizes for bingo. Also, free drinks, snacks and entertainment for 45 minutes on Tuesday - worth going. The Roark is a nice location. You can easily walk to Branson Landing or downtown Branson. Also, we went fishing in the river just outside our condo.
My parents were also staying at Roark that week. They had a little different unit in the 600 building. It was also a two bedroom, but a little smaller kitchen and living room. However, they had a washer and dryer in the unit. Oh, both units did not have ovens - you can use the oven in the Club however. The grounds did have BBQs - we did not use them. I also used the Roark Health Club which is a decent gym and met my requirements.
I would say that it would help the Roark to update the decor, but honestly nothing was in bad condition or falling apart. It was just older design and decor. Everything was clean and functional. I would stay here again. Carol (the manager) has great knowledge of the area and very truthful for recommendations of place to go and eat while in Branson.
