“Not worth the money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2008

You couldn't see anything thru the trees on one side and then there was a mountain on the other side so all you saw were rocks. The drive to Branson on the roadways are more scenic. And then they call out passengers by boarding numbers. So the people with the low numbers were pushing and shoving their way thru the people with high numbers. Pretty chaotic. Glad we were in the shade and not too hot outside. Go see a show instead.

“Great Train Ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2007

Took the kids here in July 07...They loved it...My son is a railroad fan so this was great for him.. The tour doesn't really show you a lot in the way of things to specifically see along the way...but rather represents a step back in time to the days when travel by train was a major method of travel as well as the history surrounding this railway line and how it was created. How many chances do you get to ride on a train with your kids before they get too old to think it's "NOT COOL" to do anymore..Life is short. We will do this again when we return to Branson.

“Waste of Money - See a show instead”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2004

We were really disappointed with the Branson "Scenic" Railway. Unless you truly love trains, there was nothing much to see except lots of leaves on the trees (that you couldn't see). You'll go through two dark tunnels and one or two trestle bridges. Other than that, it's a waste of money -- better to take in another show.

“Ignore harsh comments, this was good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2004

My husband, daughter (8 year old), my dad (79 yr) and I went on the train ride August 2,04. We all really enjoyed it. Once you got out of town it becomes more scenic. It is a 90/120 min ride into Arkansas and back. It has a train engine at each end of the train and a number of passenger trains in the middle. One engine pulls you while you go and the other takes you back to the station. Some of the passenger trains have a observation deck on top and you can get a good view from up there. You can get up and check out each "car" while the train is going. It has a beverage car on it so you can buy snacks while your en route. You go through 2 tunnels, and over 2 trussels. At the end they stop on very high trussel and you can see out over the valley. The train travels at about 36 mph through mountains and flatland. You pass a few ghost towns that have a few remains to it. The cost was 20 dollars a person, kids half price and you need to make reservations. It is closed on Sundays and leaves at 9am, 11am, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm the rest of the week. There is also a dinner train you can take, I believe that is the 6pm trip. All in all it was worth it to me and the rest of the family. There is a person who talks over a speaker and gives certain information about towns, history, and how the tracks, tunnels, trussles were built. Along with certain information about the train you are riding. He does this on the way there and on the way back it is more of a quite ride. It is well worth the effort that is put into it. Keep your tickets out once you board the train because they do come around and punch them.
I recommend this ride for train freaks, senior citizens, young kids and for people who never rode a train before and would like to. Go to the bathroom BEFORE you leave because the batherooms on the train are as big as the ones on an airplane and the water hardly works. The train cars are air-conditon and have roomy seats.

“Good Train Ride”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2004

Had a good trip here, true not too scenic but the railway coaches were very interesting and we rode back in the observation car, on top of one of the tressells was very scary.
The staff were very good and tried to make the experience a good one
