Just had a takeaway from Koi Japanese restaurant.first impression nice helpful friendly staff, but the food was average at best. We had vegetable Gyoza, bland deep fried Chinese spring rolls in all but name, Gyoza are never deep fried. Next was chicken Yakatori, rubbery low quality chicken in a salty soy heavy sauce, a Japanese staple done badly. Next was 2 types of "inside out rolls" first Eel and Avocado second Prawn tempura, each was ok ,if a little clumsy, the "inside out rolls" were about the only item i would consider ordering again! 3 pieces of Salmon sushi followed, rice salmon and bought in wasabi, acceptable. Lastly was the " chefs special Yakisoba" noodles oh dear! Poor chicken, prawn and noodles stir fryed in a bland soy sauce, basically" chow mein" 1970's style. Before writing this negative review I phoned the lady who served me to give her some feedback, she was very apologetic. I so want this place to be a success but not sure it will be,living in Leigh( culinary wasteland) we need as many people to give it a good go. After all that good luck!
