“Excellent quality, reasonable prices, friendly professional service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

We had a very warm welcome and so did the dogs! So nice to find a place that really is very dog friendly. We had the lamb and the steak and ale pie, there was a lot of meat and it was very, very good quality, beautifully cooked. Presentation was excellent and the service was friendly, professional and not at all intrusive. Excellent value for money. One of the best quality meals we have had during our stay in Shrewsbury. We would have no hesitation in recommending!

“Good pub with great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

Good country pub with a restaurant. They have a large menu and a number of specials that change on a regular basis. The quality of the beer and food is very good and the service friendly and prompt. It is a little bit expensive for a country pub but the quality and size of the portions justify the extra. They have an open fire which is welcoming on a winter's evening. My wife and I called in at 8.15pm on a Tuesday evening after a visit to the cinema in Shrewsbury and was amazed at how busy they were. Well worth a visit.

“Very welcoming and cosy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

This is a country pub, but also a restaurant. Great variety of dishes. Large portions. Something for everyone. Great for a casual quick bite, or a special occasion. Lovely old fashioned atmosphere with a roaring fire when outdoor temperatures drop.

“very disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

My husband & I went there at 6.15pm on a Friday for fish & chips and was, firstly surprised at the cost @£12.45 each. But as we had read in the local newspaper that they were popular & that the food was good we thought we'd give it a go.

We actually came away very, very disappointed.

The battered fish was definitely from frozen (a bit chewy), the batter being quite soggy with oil (oil not hot enough). Chips insipid in colour and quite a lot of black on them from the chipping machine(?). The mushy peas cold, although a nice flavour.
I didn't see the point of the vegetables-maybe the meal could have been cheaper without them.
We wouldn't have minded the cost if it was perfect for an easy meal for a chef to cook. We were so hungry that we didn't want to go looking for another restaurant.
The staff were really nice, one of them didn't understand what we meant by ' filling a whole' when asked if everything was alright. No complaints on the staff front, though.

We eat out as much as we can, but I'm afraid we will be giving it a miss in the future which is a shame because it's a lovely building.

“Lovely pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

The food at the Old Three Pigeons cant be faulted. The staff are so friendly and will go out of their way to help you. The food is wonderful - none of it reheated or microwaved and all fresh, fresh, fresh.
The menu is huge and weather it is a snack you want or a three course dinner the Old Three Pigeons will be just the job.
Brilliant.
