When we lived in Port Gibson for five years we always took out of town guests to the Windsor Ruins and it was always appreciated. although the site is not well maintained, one still gets a sense of the grandeur that was once there. It also helps if you take a side trip to the Oakland Chapel at Alcorn state University. There you will see the actual metal steps that once graced the front of Windsor and some of the same railing sections visible on the ruins. If you can gain access to the chapel it is also worth seeing inside.
