We were surprised at the picturesque setting. The home offers casual elegance, and, with James and Linda, a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Each room is beautifully tailored. We sat on the verandah and were offered iced tea while we watched the world go by. We were lucky enough to be there prom night and watched from the porch swing and cushioned white wicker chairs as students took pictures in the city park across the way. As they filed across to the home and spilled out onto the lovely lawn, we were spectators to their dinner on the side patio, as well. So, we were (partly) party to theirs! We had a delicious breakfast the next morning in the formal dining room. What a terrific setting for a wedding, family party or weekend get-a-way! We scheduled a visit to Philadelphia, Mississippi because of the town's historical significance in the civil rights movement and this, of course, makes it an important destination, but this home and genuinely warm host and hostess makes it reason enough to visit!
