“Very nice bed and breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We stayed one night in a lovely room upstairs in the main house. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a gas fireplace, which was a really nice touch in the cold weather. The bathroom was pretty, but needed repairs to the faucets at the sink. The staff was really friendly and gave us a tour and history of the property. I would stay again when in the area.

We recently spent the night here based in large part upon the reviews. The exterior of the house is every bit as impressive as it appears in the website pictures. There is no real parking area, so you just need to make yourself a spot on the driveway. I found the innkeeper, Marci, in the kitchen working on our breakfast for the next day. She got us settled in right away and urged us to look around the property, which we did. The mansion itself is sort of creepy, because it is quite underfurnished. It's missing a lot of the furniture and decorative objects you would expect to find (maybe that makes set up for events easier?). The wide-open spaces make the house feel deserted rather than welcoming. Our room was much the same; it was missing on the of chairs shown in the picture on the website and had none of the little touches you might expect. Our bed inexplicably had no blanket or comforter; you had the choice of using the decorative bedspread or freezing.
The land on which the mansion sits is pretty and would make for some nice walks or a picnic in the summer. In the colder weather, though, there is not a lot to do.
Marci was great; she apparently thought we had not asked for enough, because she brought us drinks and snacks, and we enjoyed visiting with her. But neither she nor I could ever get the guest wifi to work (and even though Marci implied repeatedly it was me, another guest said in the morning that he had been unable to connect that evening as well). Although the inn previously had a chef, he is no longer there, and Marci has responsbility for breakfast. Her bread pudding was delicious and more successful than the other breakfast dishes she offered. All in all, I might return in better weather to give it another try.

Room Tip: There is no wifi in the rooms out back.

My husband, daughter and I were passing through on our way to Florida and had the good fortune to stay at Oak Crest. The place is absolutely beautiful. We stayed in two wonderful rooms as our group was too large for one room. That said, the rooms were spacious with lovely fireplaces and luxurious ensuite bathrooms. Bobby, our host, was very attentive, stopping to give us a tour of the whole place (it is large, with banquet facilities, a little church and outdoor pool). Also if you are looking for a dinner spot, about a two minute walk from the property is Old Cuevas Bistro - an amazing meal!
This gem is not to be missed.
Thank you Bobby. Hope to return someday.

Room Tip: Stayed in the Faulkner and Le Moyne - both wonderful.

My Husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Oak Crest Mansion Inn! The mansion was beautifully renovated to it's historic original design and the landscaping was magnificent! The staff was extremely friendly with good old southern charm! Also a perfect place to get married! Thanks again Chase and staff!!

Jacuzzi, fireplace, beautiful mansion, friendly staff and quiet beaches !! What more could we ask for? It's like "Gone with the Wind" 2 miles from the beach !
Michelle and Colleen are wonderful hosts and the breakfast by Chef Wyatt was beyond delicious !
The McGavock Suite has a fireplace and double jacuzzi - and just as the previous poster wrote - it was very welcome with the cold (23') weather.
The excellent restaurant 200 yards away was closed on Monday, but Colleen gave us china plates, napkins and silverware so we could enjoy our double jacuzzi, watch the Saints game and have a little picnic in our room.
The next day we drove just 2.5 miles to the beautiful, peaceful beaches.
The photos were taken the last day at breakfast when the chef prepared eggs benedict in the breakfast room with the mantled fireplace.
We'll return as soon as we can get away again !

We were the only guests at this splendid mansion and felt like royalty as we lay in our double jacuzzi bath before making for the four-poster bed. Great breakfast too. As we visited in mid-week off-season, the price was reasonable. Highly recommended.
