“Please update me”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Love the location. But the hotel is very sad and needs to be updated. The rooms are dreary. The breakfast was so disappointing. The staff however was very nice. I love Oxford and will go back once a month but I will find somewhere to stay.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We apologize you were not happy with your stay, but we just wanted to let you know that our hotel will be going under construction very soon. The current hotel will be completely demolished and a new hotel will be built in this same location. The new hotel "Hotel Oxford" is expected to open in the summer of 2014. We hope you will consider staying with us at the new hotel! Thank you!

Great location, few yards to town square.
Front desk staff pleasant & friendly, usually college students.
80s Hotel decor worn & dated.
Breakfast buffet dreadful plastic food. Suggest you bring your own.
Cleanliness questionable.
NYC prices on game & activity weekends for cheap motel surroundings.
Parking on a first come basis, so you may end up walking quite a distance to your car.
Try the chicken salad at the gas station across from the hotel. Made locally, l kid you not, to die for!!!!! Plan brunch at the Bottletree Cafe, may have to wait, they are so popular.!!

As some other reviewers have stated, this place has a great location. We walked down to the square and had some good food from here. But the hotel is starting to show it's age. I tried to spin it off as a nice classy hotel from early days, but it's more starting to show some need for repair that I think is probably due to the fact they are going to tear it down and rebuild it. The complimentary breakfast was not very impressive either. The staff were very friendly though, which made the stay a little more pleasant as well. Cannot wait to see what they do after the rebuild it.

Oxford is a great town with great places to eat, great tailgates, and a wealth of history. However, they fall short on places to stay, but that is about tho change.

We stayed 3 nights in a 1 BR suite in Building C. Its was clean and comfortable but not esthetically pleasing, contemporary or unto date by any stretch. The staff is mainly made up of awesome college student, who roll out their best southern hospitality. I can not stay I would recommend staying at the DOI, but you don't have many choice if you want to stay my the square. I cannot wait to return until after the spring of 2014 when the new luxury DOI is scheduled to reopen.

I gained a new appreciation for Oxford and ol'Miss, both now rate high in my book.

Don't be misled by the name - this is a motel. Our room was OK and seemed clean and the location is certainly good - a short walk to the square. As for the breakfast - forget it! Plastic food served on plastic in a barren room. Do yourself a favour and go to the Bottletree Cafe which serves excellent food in warm cheerful surroundings. We wouldn't return to the Downtown Oxford Inn.

The Downtown Oxford Inn was recommended to me for a recent business trip to Oxford, Mississippi. My expectations were not "Four Seasons" but I wish that the folks at the Oxford Inn would try a little harder. My room was marginally clean. The carpet is so old, I'm sure it won't come clean. The bathroom was clean enough, but the years have done a number on this place. It is in dire need of a sprucing up. However, the location is very good - walking distance to the square and all that Oxford's square has to offer. Were it not for this very convenient location, I would not be able to recommend it. If you go into this with marginal expectations, knowing that the fixtures are going to be 30 years old or so, you will be okay, because you will be spending most of your time having a good time in Oxford - a great city.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you had a good stay with us. Just wanted to let you know that we are aware of the aging property and it will soon be addressed. On December 2, 2012 we will be closing down this hotel and building a new hotel set to open in the Spring of 2014. We hope you will come back to see us when the new hotel opens.

The bed, bedding and towels were WONDERFUL. The rest of the room- way dated. They put granite on the vanity and nice stone in the shower but there were cords everywhere in the room and a phone that looked to be from the mid 80s. One lamp didn't work and the carpet made me wanna wear my socks the whole time. I'm not a fan of outdoor entry so that added to the rest... I don't think I'd stay here again. I will say the convenient walk to the square is helpful for those that like a few glasses or wine or some drinks, not me... I could've stayed driving distance away.
