Depending on what direction you come into Oxford from this can be difficult to find. There is one small sign showing the direction to the site. It is located on the left in a curve on Old Taylor Road. This was my second visit and on both occasions there were only a handful of visitors. The self-guided tour is inexpensive-right around five dollars. There is staff there and they will try to answer your questions, but I did not have the impression that they new volumes about Faulkner. Faulkner's bedroom is particularly cool as he outlined a novel by writing thumbnail sketches on the wall. The grounds are also nice to walk around. This should take you around an hour to tour the house and grounds. I could see someone who knew virtually nothing about Faulkner in advance leaving with little extra knowledge. No real gift shop to speak of. However, it was refereshing to go to an historic site and not have to deal with large crowds, be able to go at my own pace, and truly think about what I was seeing rather than having information force fed to me by a guide or computer. Well worth a visit.
