My wife and I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites - Meridian each Fall for the last 2 years. We're big LSU footballl fans and generally use Meridian as our home base for visiting the University of Alabama (very convenient - approx. 90 miles).

This H.I. Express is very nice. The hotel is less than 2 years old and it clearly shows. Furthermore, between this year and last, the hotel has upgraded its bed linens to compete with the other "moderate" hotels (i.e. Hampton, Fairfield) who are implementing similar upgrades.

As advertised on TV, the shower is very nice. Excellent water pressure. I also like how the shampoo smells like cinammon!

The breakfast is good - not great - but just fine for the price. We've paid between $80-$90 for our rooms on both occassions.

Freeway access is good - exit 153 in both directions. Hotel is less than 1/4 mile south of the freeway.

Parking is plentiful. We've arrived late in the evening frequently and never had trouble finding a spot. This year, I liked seeing a security guard walking around the property.

In my opinion, the knocks on this hotel are very minor. The little towel sign in the bathroom is tacky and unnecessary. It goes without saying that if you steal hotel property, you'll be charged. I don't need a sign that basically translates into "if you steal our towels, we'll charge you." Secondly, if you arrive at night, Winnie the night clerk can be a little brusk.

Overall, this is a nice hotel that I have no problem paying $90-$100/night for. The surrounding area is quiet and it's convenient to plenty of places outside of Meridian.

Clean hotel, relatively new, okay. Bed somewhat uncomfortable; sheets kept coming off the mattress. Limited fitness center, and the free breakfast had only a few choices – no fruit, not even bananas for your cereal -. Free internet service, though. Very friendly staff.

Only a suite was available; more 'room' than we needed, and expensive. H.I. Express used to be the 'simpler' Holiday Inns! Now they've gone too far upscale for my taste. Signs in bathroom warning how much you'll be charged if you take the washcloth with you. Ice maker out of order. Cold water in tap was warm. No notebooks in rooms with hotel features listed, being 'updated,' they told me. TV menu list had PBS listed but it was not available. Internet access cables kept at front desk where they could be specially requested (to avoid theft, I imagine).
OK, so I wanted something simpler and friendlier to 'real' people, not just prof. business travelers. Next time I'll know better.

We are local, but stayed one night for daughter's birthday slumber party, mainly for the indoor heated pool. Booked a AAA rate online, at check in they tried to change my rate. Room was clean, but short on towels: 3 towels for a suite room with occupancy of 6 guests. No pillows provided for sleeper-sofa either. With the exception of the grumpy lady next door who beat on the wall and called our room to complain about OTHER people roaming the halls (not in our group!), we enjoyed our stay. The pool is indoor-outdoor; the glass roof opens as do the glass sliding doors in warm weather, but we were toasty warm swimming while Meridian received a very rare dusting of snow!
