Very large stain in middle of floor made room appear dirty. Front desk said they had attempted to have it cleaned twice, but stain would not come out. Then, they said they were having a carpet cleaning service come the following day. In addition, no shampoo anywhere in hotel. The front desk employee said they were waiting for the truck which wouldn't arrive until the following day. The breakfast was poor, although the server was very sweet...only fruit was a few pieces of canned grapefruit and yogurt was in a larger container and looked too messy for me to feel it was clean enough to consume. Food including yogurt and grits on counter. No individual yogurt, no apples, no bananas, no grapes or pears. No bran or granola cereals. Eggs were poached, I think; they looked rubbery, so I didn't taste. My daughter liked the waffle. Only choice of milk was 2% and I had to request milk because the pitcher was empty. I also had to request that the table be cleaned as there was syrup all over the only table big enough to seat 3. Overall, the hotel facility itself is basic, no frills, but seems safe. Staff is polite. Seems that they just don't go the extra mile to actually make it nice. It doesn't take much to put a guest in a room without a large carpet stain and the hotel was definitely not full. It only takes planning ahead to make sure shampoo is available and if it is not, a staffer could drive the 1/2 block to the dollar store to pick up a bottle of shampoo. And, it is just as easy to serve healthy food as non-healthy, or to at least give the option. Also, keeping only 1 pitcher of milk out for an entire hotel seems ridiculous...and if you choose to only have 1 pitcher, the guest should be able to expect that it should be at least 1/2 full at all times. I am returning to Meridian soon, but will not be staying here again.
