“Great place friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Stayed there this past weekend the rooms, lobby ,parking area were clean. The staff at the front desk were helpful and kind. We asked for direction to a certain store the gentleman gave us directions with no problem. The breakfast was awesome my kids enjoyed making their own waffles and the lady in the dining area was helpful and super nice. A very kind lady, wish i remembered her name to give her a thank you . We will stay here ever home game Alabama has during football season.....TOP NOTCH and AFFORDABLE!

This was pretty much your standard mid-grade hotel stay. We found the staff to be friendly and the hotel was clean. The location is across the street from a large mall, with many fast food type restaurant establishments all within walking distance. We would stay here again!

The check in process was extremely long. They tried to charge us a different rate that what was on our confirmation. No towels in the room, but we were able to go to the front desk to get them. They were not delivered. The bed was made but the pillows were thrown in the middle of the bed without pillow cases. The people in the room directly above us had small children that were running and jumping constantly. Very loud. We called the front desk, they offered no resolution. Even though the hotel was not near full, moving was not an option.

Due to this experience, we will not stay at another Country Inns and Suites in any city.

Very large stain in middle of floor made room appear dirty. Front desk said they had attempted to have it cleaned twice, but stain would not come out. Then, they said they were having a carpet cleaning service come the following day. In addition, no shampoo anywhere in hotel. The front desk employee said they were waiting for the truck which wouldn't arrive until the following day. The breakfast was poor, although the server was very sweet...only fruit was a few pieces of canned grapefruit and yogurt was in a larger container and looked too messy for me to feel it was clean enough to consume. Food including yogurt and grits on counter. No individual yogurt, no apples, no bananas, no grapes or pears. No bran or granola cereals. Eggs were poached, I think; they looked rubbery, so I didn't taste. My daughter liked the waffle. Only choice of milk was 2% and I had to request milk because the pitcher was empty. I also had to request that the table be cleaned as there was syrup all over the only table big enough to seat 3. Overall, the hotel facility itself is basic, no frills, but seems safe. Staff is polite. Seems that they just don't go the extra mile to actually make it nice. It doesn't take much to put a guest in a room without a large carpet stain and the hotel was definitely not full. It only takes planning ahead to make sure shampoo is available and if it is not, a staffer could drive the 1/2 block to the dollar store to pick up a bottle of shampoo. And, it is just as easy to serve healthy food as non-healthy, or to at least give the option. Also, keeping only 1 pitcher of milk out for an entire hotel seems ridiculous...and if you choose to only have 1 pitcher, the guest should be able to expect that it should be at least 1/2 full at all times. I am returning to Meridian soon, but will not be staying here again.

Room Tip: Choose a room in another hotel.

We dropped in to this hotel for an overnight stay on our way to Shreveport, La. The staff was very helpful in finding us a dinner restaurant and everyone was pleasant. We only used it to sleep, so I didn't really check it for most things. I can tell you, however, that our carpet was filthy and in very bad need of a cleaning, which you don't generally find in most Country Inns. We appreciated having a refrigerator. The hotel is nothing special, but OK for what we went there for.

It's a long day's drive from the Houston, TX area to Meridian, MS, and upon arrival one hopes for a clean, comfortable and equipped room. We travel with refrigerated items, and so upon opening the cabinet for the advertised refrigerator, imagine our surprise to find an empty space. Contact the front desk and we're told they break down and so are moved from room to room, next morning the manager explains that they leave them out of some rooms they discount on rate. Either excuse is ridiculous and contrary to the property's description on the corporate Web site. While awaiting our refrigerator delivery, a step into the bathroom reveals that refrigerators are the least of our concerns - no towels, washcloths, bathmat, bars of soap. Must be one of those darn discounted rooms again! Call front desk, apologies, they are brought from another room - now without them. You're saying at this point, just a mistake by the housekeeping staff. It's now the return trip and Meridian is a reasonable drive destination, so let's try the Country Inn again, the beds are comfortable. Same desk clerk who remembers us, ask if we get a refrigerator this time, answer is "I hope so". Alas, hopes were dashed as we looked into the empty refrigerator cabinet. Guess where we looked next. Guess what we found. Sure enough, no towels, washcloth, bathmat, soap. Excuse this time - not enough washers and dryers to get them back to the rooms in a timely manner, such as before guests check in. The same unacceptable room conditions twice, two weeks apart? The property should be closed until facilities meet advertised and common sense standards in ALL rooms, and management should be replaced. For guests, recommend bringing your cooler - ice machine works, but there's only one (first floor - must be like that washer and dryer budget issue), and tuck your towel sets into the car somewhere.
So why a two star rating instead of one? Anquanetta Cole, who get our five star rating. Yet another example of this property's abysmal cost-cutting at the expense of customer satisfaction is the fact that this young woman literally runs the entire operation. She is the front desk staff, leaves the desk to meet customer requests like refrigerators and towels, folds laundry in the back, is the hostess and food service provider for the morning breakfast, was seen polishing the furniture and sweeping the entry area, all this done with courtesy and a smile. Who knows what else fills her days and nights there. She deserves to become a manager, or better yet, a job at a better property. We're not going to return, but thanks, Anquanetta.

Very adequate property. Clean and friendly front desk make this a good choice for business travelers.
By no means anything fancy but good value and great location.
