“Terrible Housekeeping!! Don't stay here is you don't want hair in your bed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2008

We arrived due to a family emergency without a reservation, the check in staff were great and very apologetic for the poor housekeeping. We always check the linens upon check in and were mortified to find numerous body hairs and stains on the sheets that we obviously not turned after the last guest and the toilet was used. They immediately gave us another room and that bed also had body hair and stains. We asked for clean sheets and made the bed ourselves. We stayed at this hotel 4 years ago and it was top notch.

My family of three stayed here one night. It was a wonderfully large and comfortable room, with all the amenities of far more expensive hotels. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the rooms and lobby were clean. The staff was very friendly, too. The breakfast offered many choices, both hot and cold, suitable to those on low carb diets as well as carb addicts. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone unless they cannot climb one flight of stairs. I don't remember if there was an elevator as I like to use the stairs when there's only one flight to climb.

Our handbell group from Biloxi, MS, stayed here April 21, 2007,--I with much hesitation because of the reviews that I had read on line. I will have to say, for the price, that it was one of the nicest and most unique motels that I have stayed in during my years of traveling. The rooms were spacious (to include a pull out sofa) clean, cool when we first walked in, which is most unusual, all the amenities anyone would need for an overnight stay were included, and a most delicious continental breakfast served in a spacious dining room with round wooden tables and chairs. The staff was most helpful and friendly. If there was any one draw back it would be that there was not an elevator and we were all on the second floor, which is fine except when having to carry luggage or, in our case, members with bad knees and hips. Overall, if staying in Laurel again, I would stay here.

  • Liked — It's unique character, the cleanliness of the rooms and the room layout--plus it was cool when we walked in for the first time.
  • Disliked — No elevator

After checking in two of us discovered that our rooms had never been prep'd after the last guest. In fact we each thought maybe the rooms were still occupied. We were quickly relocated and told it was simply a housekeeping mix-up. We were also told that there'd be a hot breakfast starting at 6:30 AM.
The new rooms were standard fare, with adequate showers and towels.
Breakfast it turned out was late. The promised 6:30 turned into 7:00 and then some. By the time we were leaving they were just pulling the sausage out of the microwave. No one bothered to see if it was hot - it was lukewarm at best.
Turns out that by switching rooms our credit card info got swapped around by the front desk. To be fair, the front desk did try hard to remedy the problems, but generally it seemed that no one really cared about doing a good job - definately not housekeeping, nor the break room attendant.

Booked room in order to go to USM's Homecoming game, etc. Arrived late, woke up early next morning with bites and swelling (allergic to some insect bites). Found fleas in pajamas and in bed. Was told at desk that the hotel had been "pet friendly" at an earlier time and that I should call the manager early the next week. Did that. Made many calls, left numbers and messages, but was repeatedly told that manager was "out on errands", "out paying bills", "in meeting", etc. NO ONE FROM COMFORT SUITES HAS EVER CALLED ME BACK.
(Called corporate headquarters, got sympathy and was promised followup with results of my complaint. In a few days, I received letter from corporate stating that this property (hotel) is an "independent franchise owner" and that corporate could not get involved...)

We stayed here on a visit to Hattiesburg since all the hotels there were booked with post-Katrina contractors. The rooms were clean enough, but they were quite small to count as suites. But what really put us off was the unfriendly and unhelpful attitude of the staff. When we called to make reservations, the staff were curt and practically hung up on us as soon as the transaction was complete ("Is that it?"). When we requested bedding for the pull-out couch, we were told that we could come get sheets from the front desk (no pillow, no blankets, no apologies) and, again, we were hung up on. We hope we will not have to return to this hotel.

We stayed here one night. Absolutely the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. The first room we went to the bed had been slept in. All the toilets had mold rings growing in them, even in the lobby. The bathroom floors were so dirty you could not walk on them. I accidently left some clothes in a drawer in the room. I called and asked them to bag them up and I would pick them up the next day. I came back, and the clothes were still in the drawer in the room, and the room had been rented to another family!!
