“Perfect room for little money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

We were on our way further up North and needed to find a place to stay. As we got a coupon book in one of the visitor centers there was an offer for the La Quinta Inn in Jackson. When I asked for a room for one night using the coupon this was not a problem at all and staff was as friendly as towards every other customer, which was not the case everywhere.
The rooms are large and clean, the hotel has an outdoor pool and as we had a room not facing the street it was really quiet.
In the morning there was a small breakfast, simple but of good quality and the breakfast room was clean. We enjoyed the night in the hotel and recommend it.

Room Tip: Try to get a room by the pool as this it is quiet and you don't hear the street. Of course it is...

Stayed at the La Quinta Inn in May 2013 for 2 nights and was not impressed whatsoever. Upon check-in, there was a burnt marijuana cigar on our floor in the room. Not sure if it was the previous occupants or housekeeping, but it was definitely not a good start. The air conditioner did not cool the room very well, and the king bed was of the "cheap motel" variety. Very poor selection on the continental breakfast. The only positive about the stay was that it's pet-friendly, as we brought our two small dogs. Overall I would only recommend to travelers with pets. Otherwise I'd pay a little more and stay 5 minutes north in Madison.

Room Tip: Only stay if you have pets

We first for to our room and noticed crap on the toilet, boogers in the shower and a nasty floor. Called the front desk to tell them to come clean, they tell us to come get another key because house keeping was unavailable. We get to the front desk to change keys and house keeping was setting in the lobby watching TV. The second room was better but still dirty. We wore our flip flops because we were afraid to walk on the floor. You had to have arm bands for the pool because non guests were sneaking in. The police patrol at night. Needless to say we left first thing the next morning and won't be going back. Not one good thing to say about this place.

Desk staff was very helpful, but hotel is in terrible need of upgrading. Even though its located next to the interstate, it still had the appearance of a low budget motel. Toilet chain was broken, AC stunk, mattress was terrible. Even the pillowtop cover had lost is pillow softness...needs work.

We stayed here on our way to Texas easy access off 1-20 rooms standard but clean price right staff were great. Except for mgr. I was at pool. Husband went to car to get dog food was holding dog in arms right at fence. Mgr comes into pool area with paper in her hand saying do I know dogs not allowed in pool area explained to here but she was holding paper in hand with highlighted area about no pets I just nodded her away kind of insulted

We checked into this motel and were assigned to room 230. When we walked in the room had a nasty smell to it. There were spots on the top of the dresser that looked as if food or drinks had been spilled but never cleaned up. We were so tired and hungry that we left to eat dinner. When we arrived back to our room we discovered the bathroom toilet did not work at all. We called the front desk and asked if we could be moved to a different room. We were told there was nowhere else to put us but they would discount our room rate by 10% for the inconvenience!! I asked how we were supposed to stay there without a working toilet and I was answered with complete silence. I finally asked if we could just check out without penalty and was told that was fine as long as I returned both of the room keys we had been given. We promptly loaded our stuff back in the car and headed to the front office. We never received an apology or even an indication that there was any willingness for them to try to fix the issue. We were extraordinarily frustrated!! In addition, this motel is located in a very bad area of town. We would not even allow our daughters the option of swimming or being outside our room unless both my husband and I were with them together. Beginning at dark, the front lobby door is locked and there is a police officer on duty. Do not choose to stay here if you have any other possible option. It is awful!!!
