Wasn't too sure about staying downtown but thought I would try this out as it had a fenced lot with security code gate and cameras, went it and very nice inside, rooms were large and clean, every room done by different interior decorator, French doors over looking front street from my room with huge king bed, Berkey was the front desk operator and was extra helpful and even ran upstairs before I got out of elevator and turned the lights on in my room for me, great service and very nice hotel
I would recommend

We spent two nights in Jackson whilst driving around the south. The Old Capitol Inn has real character, loveley rooms, is not crowded, the staff were very friendly and this is a great central spot to walk around the old heart of Jackson. Many old historical buildings within 4 or 5 blocks of the inn. Note that the streets are dark and empty at night with not many eateries open although we felt relatively safe.

Room Tip: We had rooms over looking the street with quaint litlle balconies.

The hotel is in a great location near the capitol and has a welcoming staff. It has free parking in its own secured lot and a nice breakfast as well. We had a nice suite with TVs in both rooms and a nice bathroom. The decor was very nice as well. The rate was fair and we only regret having to leave. nthe evening there is a gratis wine reception. We missed it due to being at dinner and the very nice young man opened up the closet and gave us each a glass of wine. We will be back for sure.

Beautiful hotel. Suite with anteroom. Newly remodeled. Flat tv. Shower stall. French doors open to overlook lovely courtyard with fountain and koi pond. Breakfast free and delicious. Conference facility spacious and theater like in decor. Amazing staff. Minor glitch of something left in room by previous guest but resolved by manager quickly and to our satisfaction. Free parking. No pool. Gave is our much needed late checkout. Highly recommend.

Stayed at this hotel during the marathon weekend. The rooms are large, clean, well-furnished, and over all charming property. The staff is really helpful and friendly. They provided coffee, juice, fruit, and bagels early in the AM for guests running the race. The location is very easy walking distance to the downtown convention center area. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it for anyone coming to run the marathon or the half.

This charming boutique hotel is easy to get to from the Interstate, has a secured parking lot adjacent to the building, and is an exceptional bargain especially when you figure in the wine & cheese, full breakfast, and morning paper. The cozy $99 rooms work quite well for our one night visits. If you're staying longer, a suite might be a good idea. We were in Room 24 this stay. It has a tiny balcony overlooking the lovely courtyard. The art and decor are a soothing eclectic blend. The bathroom is larger than you'd expect with a good shower (no tub) and a full length mirror. There are plenty of drawers, but the closet in Room 24 is minuscule. If you pack lots of hangup clothes, choose a room with a normal closet. There is what appears to be a charging station for electric cars just inside the parking lot gate. We have recommended Old Capitol Inn to friends who now recommend it to their friends and families. (According to the Inn's history on the website, it was built as a YWCA in 1952.)
