Stayed here because of its convenient location to an event in Ridgeland. The hotel was once a Jameson Inn. How do I know? When I checked to see why the message light was blinking, the prompt said: Welcome to the Jameson Inn.
Our room was basic but clean, although the linens were somewhat musty. There were no wash cloths, only 2 towels and 2 hand towels.
The door had numerous holes where the screws holding the security device had been popped out.
The front desk person, when we checked in, was cheerful and helpful. The person on duty the next morning had to be reminded that, even at 7 a.m., the breakfast supplies had been depleted. That did not make that person's day. Service was not with a smile. And speaking of the breakfast area: We were there on a Thursday but the newspaper on the shelf was the previous weekend's USATODAY. The current newspaper was available at the front desk.
For those who want more than a make-your-own breakfast, two popular chain restaurants are within walking distance.
On the plus side, there is free wi-fi and our ground floor room was extremely quiet even though we faced the parking lot and a busy street. No one in our group complained of a sleepless night because of noise.
Nothing wrong with this place that a facelift won't help.
