“Worth traveling to”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

The evening my son became engaged, we drove 5 1/2 hours and met him, his new fiancee, and In-laws to be for a celebratory dinner.
The day he graduated from Mississippi College School of Law, we met with him, his new wife, and several family/friends for a gathering.
Two weeks later, when his wife graduated from Physical Therapy School, her parents had us all to Walker's for a celebratory gathering.
This past week, when we went down to Jackson to watch him be sworn into the Mississippi Bar, we met him, his wife, and her parents here again for lunch.
Every special occassion we have had in Jackson, Walker's Drive-In has been part of the celebration. I think that is recommendation enough.

“Excellent food but very slow service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

We had reservations for 5:30 before the Elton John concert and our entire party did not arrive until 6:00. We told the waiter we were going to the concert and needed to be out by 7:30. He said that was fine so was everybody else that night. They had 200 reservations that night that were going to the concert. We did not get our entrees until 7:20. We had to eat our food so fast, I am surprised we did not all get indigestion. The Cesar salad was ok. The veal was excellent. I would go back but you don't need to be in a hurry. We were in the building next door and I would not want to be in that building again. You need to be in the main building.

“Walker's Drive In--Worth the Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

Don't be misled by the name--it's a former drive-in but now a converted sit-down, knock-your-socks-off restaurant. It's located in the artsy Fondren District of Jackson and whether you come for lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed. The entree prices for dinner are on the high side for the area but worth it. My favorites include Redfish Anna with Lump Crabmeat and the Fried Green Tomato BLT. The bread pudding is great also.

“One word- tamales”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

The menu is pretty broad, and anyone should be able to eat here, but hands down, the tamales are the most amazing I have had in Mississippi. The place is pretty crowded around lunchtime. On pretty days this is not an issue because you can sit on the patio. The restaurant has a really casual feel, but you still get prompt, professional service from the friendly staff. Oh, and leave your diet at home, because if you don't eat dessert here, you are really missing out!
