The sandwiches are really large portions and an excellent value for the money and taste. Highly recommend the restaurant for Trip Advisor.

“Disappointing...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

I truly hate having to review tonight's dinner; however I think it is only fair to the owner's Natalya, and Chris. Especially being that the last two experiences was just as bad. We just thought they were having a bad night. We didn't want to believe the quality of the food was being compromised.

Tonight, our families dinner consisted of the chicken crepes with steamed vegetables and rice pilaf and philly steak hoagie with au jus dip and sweet potatoe fries. The issue were

(1) the au jus dip was tasteless. It was hot water with a beef bullion cube on the bottom of cup.
(2) the beef in the hoagie had no flavor
(3) the chicken in the creeps was large chunks and tasted like it came right out the can.

Definitely not Chef Chris's. He would never send something like that out to a customer. He always seemed to have a sense of pride about the dishes he prepared. The chicken was always diced into bite size and full of flavor all wrapped up in a thin crepe covered with a sauce that when you were finished you wanted to lick the plate not leaving any of that goodness to go to waste.
(4) the steamed vegetables were cooked to mushiness.
(5) the rice pilaf over cooked

Needless to say we all left with food left on our plates and wondering where is the chef we loved to come visit over the years?

I give two stars due to the quality of the food, and customer service could use improvement. A simple smile would do, or was everything alright, or maybe thank you for coming, something, anything. So disappointed...we really loved this place.

“Amazing...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012 via mobile

The chef makes everything from scratch and super fresh. Depending on how busy they are, wait times for food can be longer than normal; however, I can assure you that your food will fresh and amazing. This is definitely a local's place, but more people are starting to come. You will not regret going here. Hands down, this is the best place in Hernando.

“Worth the drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

The best kept secret in Hernando Ms. is the Memphis Street Cafe. Dinner is only on Friday & Saturday evenings, but the food is excellent. Great to see a chef that cares about his food prep, presentation and portion sizes. If you leave hungry, its your own fault.

“Very Good Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

I had lunch at the memphis Street Cafe on August 21, 2012. I had the rubin with french fries. The place was very busy, but the service was very good. The only drawback was that the room was very loud. The food was good, and it was a very good value. The rubin with the fries and tea was $11.31, and I considered that to be a very good value. I would recommend that restaurant to anyone.

“An Unexpected Delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

I grew up in the sleepy town of Hernando, Mississippi during the 1940's and 50's. A few good restaurants were operating at that time, but nothing of the quality of this new Hernando eatery. The food is amazing. From southern shrimp & grits to juicy prime rib, the food delights the palate. Despite its location, a climb down stairs to a somewhat nondescript basement, Memphis Street Cafe is well worth a visit. While awaiting the arrival of your order, be sure to peruse the interesting local art hanging on the walls.
