The hotel is old and needs to be renovated. The paint was chipping off of the walls. I had beetle bugs that like to visit. I would not stay again.

After seeing previous reviews we were a bit disappointed here. Rooms are in dire need of updating to keep up with the Hamptons, Holiday Express and Fairfields. Bathroom seemed clean but almost ancient. Stains on carpets, cigarette burns on bathroom counter and low quality feel to sheets, blankets and furnishings.

My small group is traveling through all 50 states, a long haul, so stress-free accommodation is a must. The folks at this hotel made everything easy. The staff greeted us with smiles and treated us as welcome guests, like friends. The rooms were clean and comfortable, so we were all able to get up the next morning refreshed and ready to go.

We stay for 3 nights in August while attending the Dixie Youth World Series in Laurel. The hotel is really nice, kept up. Not many negatives to this place. The floor echo real easy, so little kids like mine can't run in the rooms like kids like to do because everyone in the hotel can hear it. The pillows a little square pillows, andpersonally aren't veey comfortable. Other than that, every thing was great. Good breakfast, nice little indoor pool and work out room. The hotel is beside an Outback Steakhouse which was a plus as well. We would definitely recommend this hotel to stay at.

We stayed here on our way to New Orleans. This hotel is nothing fancy. The rooms are a little dated and worn but were they were clean. Breakfast included cereals and pastries. Enough for a quick morning start. There is a small pool, we were never at the hotel long enough to use it. Customer service was pretty good. I lost my room key and they were able to give me a new one without any hassel, I did have to prove that I was who I said. We would stay here again.

  • Liked — The free interent access in the rooms, air conditioning that worked, customer service
  • Disliked — Rooms were a little dark. They need more light.

We were able to book a suite at the last minute for a decent price. The room was complete with a hot tub, sofa sleeper, king size bed, mini kitchen and a very cold air conditioner. The only downfall was that it was a smoking room that we had to book and it stunk horribly!!
The lobby area was nice & roomy... the pool was clean... and they provided a good continental breakfast. There was even a little patio off the back where we got to kick back and unwind with another couple.
Close to the highway leading to Camp Shelby.

  • Liked — Close to the highway leading to Camp Shelby!... Roomy suites, nice pool...
  • Disliked — Stinky room!!
  • Tips/Secrets — Military discounts

Clean, comfortable, but watch your bill closely!

We checked in at a rate of $93.10 for the night of November 20, 2005. With taxes, the bill was $101.48 the next morning.

Our credit card was charged $116.70. We called the hotel and was told that "$10 is added to the charge to cover incidentals, and once it is determined that we have no phone calls or incidentals to be charged, that amount...the difference between $101.48 and $116.70....will be credited to the credit card."

That is a strange excuse. The credit card receipt I signed the morning we checked out should have shown any "incidentals". Besides, the credit card company charges the Comfort Suites a fee to charge back any amount on the credit card. I cannot believe this is company policy.

Hattiesburg is overflowing with hurricane refugees and military at this time in history, and all the hotels are filled every week with more hotels being built as fast as possible.

I suspect my husband and I experienced an unwritten policy to overcharge in the hope that most people will not notice the higher charge on the credit card than on the room receipt. We are travel writers, and one develops a "nose" for such practices.
