“price gouging”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

this place is a little hard to get into, it has a small frontage road. the rooms are great, and clean not a bad breakfast. has an elevator so easy access to both floors. needs a better restaurant nearby. wendys and dennys are about on the bottom of my list. we have access to these all the time and they are getting old.
my main complaint is pricing, as with other hotel chains, when there is an event in the area they double their prices, i paid $122.00 dollars for a room and it was the same room , that i paid $69.00 dollars for just a month an half earlier. it makes a customer not want to come back. keep your prices the same all year you might keep a happier client list or if this person is a reaccurring client you might want to at least offer them the same price they are use to paying.

Room Tip: like the first floor close to lobby, central to everything

I travel on business to Gulfport every month. This hotel has a reasonable rate, clean rooms and a very friendly and helpful staff. It will be my regular hotel for my trips. Only thing I would ike to see is a better TV (Flat Screen) in the room, but that is certainly not a show stopper for me. The breakfast buffet was excellent.

We stayed with a group for a tournament. It is right off the highway so some were calling it a truck stop but I was pleasantly surprised that between the building materials and AC, hearing the traffic was not an issue, even though we were on the road side. It is an older hotel that's been updated so I and another mom gave them A for effort on the new furniture, bathroom redo etc. Some things you just can't change. Everyone was also happy with the hot breakfast. The pool area leaves a little to be desired. Some kids said the bottom felt "slimy" (maybe it's the salt water vs chlorine?) and no one was allowed to get in the hot tub. Gulfport itself isn't my favorite destination but I thought the hotel was fine for our purposes. The rooms are bigger than average with 2 doubles, desk, sofa, tv stand/dresser with refrigerator, double vanity in the room, not the actual bathroom. The front desk clerks were very nice. It smelled a little smoky in the halls (several of us commented on this) but the actual rooms were fine.

We had occasion to stay in Gulfport on our way home from Florida. What a pleasant surprise. This hotel had a really nice, clean, spacious room for us. The hotel was in good repair and visually appealing. They have a full hot breakfast included, very good, too. They have an exercise room. The beach at Gulfport is well worth a visit, the sand is just like Clearwater. There were just three downers, in our opinions. The toilet in our room didn't appear to be bolted down, wobbling precariously. The indoor pool was green, in a full blown algae bloom. The hot tub was hot enough to make soup in, and was cloudy. A very reasonably priced stay.

Booked this hotel for a four night stay based upon other Tripadvisor reviews. Staff was friendly and courteous. Room was large and clean. Breakfast was good with some variety each day. Price was fair for what we got. Had a few issues-- had two sinks in the room, but one was plugged. Reported it on day one, but it did not get fixed. Key cards had to be reprogrammed every day! I was locked out in the rain once- not happy. Pool area is old and a bit run down- sand in the hot tub?? The hotel was located a little farther away from the coast than what I thought- I should have noticed this before making the reservation. Still, we were satisfied with our stay.

Magnolia Bay's spacious rooms, equipped with microwave, a mini-refrigerator, coffee pot, ironing board and a sitting area with couch, coffee table and a desk with free WiFi was just the ticket. I like the security of having interior access rooms and a big window that opens. The indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi and exercise room are an added bonus although we did not use them... The breakfast was great as usual. Bravo guys. Excellent stay at an affordable price!

We stayed here March 22-24 for a soccer tournament. The room was very large and I liked that there were 2 sinks (which were located separate from the bathroom) so there was lots of space for our family of 4 to get ready. There was also a small fridge. Breakfast was ok. Compared to the hotels other players on our team stayed at, this was definitely the better choice. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if in town for a tournament.
