My stay at the Shack Up Inn was simply lovely and peaceful. The staff is eager to serve and wants you to experience complete relaxation in a country setting. The tin roofs and themed “shacks” are simply a must have experience that should make every bucket list. If you are looking for five-star room service and hotel quality 1000 thread count sheets you will not find it here. What you will find is more stars in the sky than you thought existed, an escape from electronics and technology, and a stillness and quiet that can only happen in the South.
My stay was in the Earnz Cabin across the railroad tracks. I sat and listed to the quiet for almost an hour and relaxed on a porch swing under the stars. In the morning I made breakfast in the rustic kitchen and enjoyed it on the porch with a full recliner and a fan. It reminded me of something my grandpa might have rigged up. The Earnz Cabin has a queen bed and a nice sitting area with a couch two chairs, a television (set up to watch DVD’s only), internet access and a kitchen with a stove, oven, and refrigerator. Check the closets for and Armoire for slippers, extra comforters, a robe and other amenties! We tried to get the redneck hottub working but to no avail - maybe next time! :) No Pool, No Gym, No phones, therefore no wake up calls! Sleep late be lazy read a book on the Porch, play guitar, Star gaze ... asimple place!
The staff was eager to please and perfectly willing to suggest places to hear amazing blues in Clarksdale. Please see my review of the Hambone Art and Music Center for more on the most amazing night ever! I was not here for a festival and let me assure you that any night in Clarksdale you can here amazing music – the festivals just have more people! It almost seemed better having a more private experience!
I hope to return to the Shack Up Inn when I have more time. I left there feeling more relaxed than I have been in many months. I hope to plan another tip to Clarksdale and my favorite place to stay is now the Shack Up Inn!
