“Super Cottage”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

At the end of May we came from Germany to spend a holiday in Yorkshire. High Grange was wonderful! The cottage we stayed in (Ploughman's), was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. An added plus was the small private garden. We were only there a week but would have been quite happy to prolong our stay.

We were warmly welcomed by the owners and they were available to answer our questions.

So,if you are looking for somewhere to stay in a most beautiful part of Yorkshire - High Grange Cottages is the place to be. We hope to return in the future. M & B vP

This was our second stay at High Grange, we find the accommodation excellent value and love the fact our adored Labrador can come with us. We find the environment very peaceful and was the escape we needed from our busy life. The owners take such pride in the cottages and land, it really does feel like a home from home and we will definitely be back, Labrador snd newborn baby in tow. Will recommend to everyone!!

This place is in the best location for the Yorkshire Dales and Moors, just off the A1. They, very happily, accommodated all our motorcycles in their barn and locked at night. The cottages are spacious and clean. A very good long weekend was had by all.

Three genarations five children, nine adults and three dogs shared the Farmhouse and Farriers for the half term week. This is our sixth visit to High Grange, warm, comfortable, spacious, clean and perfectly placed for lots of activities. Dispite the weather we visited Lightwater Valley,Thorpe Perrow and swung through the trees, rode quad bikes and Zorbed at Camp Hill.
We ate wonderful food at The Woodman at Burneston, The bay Horse at Masham and The Green Dragon Exelby. I recommend you visit. We shall be back again soon.

We booked the Farmhouse for a big family celebration weekend and it did not disappoint. We had the most amazing time! The Farmhouse was perfect: clean, well presented, conservatory amazing, as was the kitchen and bathroom and the bedrooms...everything really. The garden is also a massive plus point and we enjoyed games of rugby and football on the large private lawn area. The location between the Dales and Moors is also perfect and there is so much to see and do...we didn't have time for it all!
All in all, the whole family are desperate to return and we only got back yesterday! Can not recommend this place enough! Thank you to the owners for an amazing experience.

I recently stayed at the Farmhouse and had high hopes after reading reviews - I wasn't let down. I would describe the Farmhouse as a comfortably spacious, well equipped property. As a large group we fitted easily into the bedrooms (2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 quad) and made use of the sofa bed available in one of the two lounges.
There were plenty of bathrooms/toilets - 2 bathrooms upstairs, 1 of which is a Jack and Jill style accessed via one of the doubles and the quad room, and also houses a steam room! Then there's a toilet downstairs.
Large, fully equipped kitchen with table seating 8 (theres 2 huge tables in the conservatory for larger groups) and adjoining utility room with washer and dryer.
They seem to have thought of everything - there's a highchair, stairgates, plenty of cutlery & crockery and more! Outside, the farmhouse has a private garden area with washing line and picnic benches which would be great in the Summer.
We ate at the local pub, the Green Dragon which was a nice meal, they even have a minibus service to take you back if you fancy a drink! Various takeaways in Bedale which is a short drive away. Plus loads of options for days out locally or a bit further afield.
I'd definitely go back here, either as a family or a larger group.

We stayed at the cottages earlier in the year with family and enjoyed it so much we decided to go back to celebrate a family birthday. On this occassion there was 22 people and we stayed in 3 cottages, all easily accessible to one another. The facilities in all the cottages were very good, however I was staying in the largest cottage (sleeps 10-12 people) which seemed to have everything you could need, dish washer, washing machine, fridge freezer, extra fridge (for beer), plenty of dishes and cutlery. Large kitchen, which was good when cooking breakfast for everyone and large conservatory where we all managed to fit inside to eat. Everyone of the cottages were clean and well presented. All family members enjoyed the vacation, ages ranged from 12- 75 years old. The cottages were within 20 minutes travelling for Light Water Valley, which the kids really enjoyed, the older family enjoyed a day in Richmond looking around the shops and lovely tea rooms. On the Saturday night we ate at the local pub (The Green Dragon), which had been pre booked. This was a five minute walk away from the cottages. The food was fabulous and we would definitley go back. I would not recommend walking along the lane when it's dark as there's no lighting or pathway. We enjoyed our trips so much that we now plan to make it a yearly event.

Room Tip: The Farm House Cottage was definitly the better of the three, it just had everything we needed to en...
