“Oasis on the track”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013 via mobile

Beautiful, comfortable, lovely hosts and amazing cuisine. We arrived soaked to the skin after our first walk from the cove. A lovely soak in the tub and nap in luxurious warm robe and then gourmet dinner. What more could you want. Well, maybe no rain :)

This was our first night on the track and the best accommodation and food we had over the 5 days. Everything was of the highest quality. The room was well decorated and very spacious.

Dinner was a special treat. Garry and Barb's love of this region and their desire to show off the best it has to offer was very much appreciated. Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed there as part of our accommodation on the Queen Charlotte track. We were warmly welcomed with a cold beer. Our room was very nice, large and airy with a great claw foot bath on a platform with views out over the water. kept private by the one way glass. Our hosts, Garry and Barb, cooked us a beautiful dinner, the highlights being the delicious fresh scallops and the snapper in the lightest crispiest beer batter. The wines on offer at dinner were very good and dinner was served on the deck with view over the water.
The egg cooker in our room to be used for breakfast was a great invention.
A great experience.

Having never arrived at a hotel in a kayak before our stay at the No Road Inn was mesmerising and unique from the outset. Garry greeted us as we arrived with the magic words "Do you guys want a cold beer?" and we instantly felt completely at home. Garry and Barb are amazing hosts - we will never forget the two nights we spent at the No Road Inn - Superb food (the best seafood and steaks we've ever had), wine and views, but above all great company. The rooms are soothing and inviting, the bathrooms full of quirky, original features - you've thought of everything! Wish we could have stayed longer and already planning when we can come and stay again. It really has to be seen to be believed.

We have travelled overseas quite a lot to some quite exotic destinations and Gary and Barb's "No Road Inn" is the best place we have ever stayed - a perfect balance of comfort, homliness and luxury.
We stayed here for night one of the Queen Charlotte Track and on arrival Gary and Barb greeted us with a complimentry beer "this might make you feel a bit better" - and it did. Gary bettered this then by suggesting we might like a "hot tub" - a huge wine barrell cut in half set in the leafy gardens - a great place to sip a local Sauv Blanc and gaze out over the bay.
Woderful hosts, great chef's - a perfect place to stay - already planning a return trip but hopefully for several nights next time.
Well done Gary & Barb - we have already recommended this to many of our mates back in Aus.

We stayed here as part of the Queen Charlotte Track walk organised by Natural Encounters in Picton. Gary and Barb have done a brilliant job in creating a fantastic place to stay; the rooms are extremely comfortable with excellent decor; shower and separate bath looking out into the trees (one way glass thankfully!) The bed looks out over beautiful Endeavour Inlet and dinner is served on the balcony where on a nice day it can be opened up to enjoy the sun or closed off to protect you from the wind and keep you toasty warm. The food was amazing! Gary certainly enjoys cooking up a storm with a perfect five course meal using fantastic local produce. The hospitality is great, a fantastic way to finish up the day with a nice cold beer at No Road Inn; by far the best place we stayed along the track, we just need to get back there!

Our family stayed here for one night during our queen Charlotte track holiday. It was perfect A very warm welcome from Garry to the exhausted and wet trampers. A lovely hot tub. A very cute little dog called Archie who stole our hearts. Large very comfortable rooms. Comfortable beds. But the hosts are the best part. Our daughters tramping boots had fallen to bits. Garry promptly lent her a pair for the next 3 days of walking. They cooked us a beautiful meal. They knew all about local wines. New Zealand at its best. I can't comment on value only because we booked through a specialist travel company for the whole trip and got a global invoice.
