Brookhaven Days Inn

Entered the room and notice that it smelled and was hot, we cranked up the air conditioning and left for a couple of hours. When we returned the room was still hot and the toilet rocked, the drawer on the dresser was falling apart. Went to the front desk and requested another room and was given one.
We changed rooms... air conditioning worked fine. We showered and went to bed. Since everyone went to the use the restroom in the first room, it was during the night when we discovered the first problem. The toilet seat was hanging on with only 1 screw upon further investigation the seat looked as if it was older than dirt, it was discolored and the plastic spacers were all crushed and broken.
Upon rising for the morning, I ran my hand across a nasty feeling stain. It looked like someone had spilled milk or ice cream on the blanket. I don't even want to think of what else it could have been. The room could have been cleaned a little better. Notice alot of places with dust and dirt build up, insect wings in the sink area.
I requested a discount immediately upon checking out and begin to tell the management of the problems and he apologized and told me that it would be checked out. As he handed me the ticket to sign I asked where was my discount and he asked me how much I was willing to pay... I said $50 bucks out of the $65 I was being charged. He told me,"You wouldn't get that rate in New York City."
Since it was Sunday and I was on my way to church, I left politely. I will be contacting the main office of Days Inn and if possible voice a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

1. Toilet rocked when you sat down on it. Bathroom was scary nasty.
2. Cigarette burn holes in bedspreads.
3. Non-smoking room smelled like smoke and mildew.
4. Drawers broken off fronts of dressers.
It was worth 20 more bucks to stay at the Hampton a block away. Our original stay was booked for 2 nights. We only lasted one night and I didn't sleep most of that night. I would not patronize this hotel again. It was nasty and very unpleasant. I stayed here 2 years ago and it was a decent enough place. Not anymore.

We had a group of 6 staying in Brookhaven for 3 nights on business. Chose the Days Inn only because other hotels were full of hurricane victims and recovery workers.

This was easily the worst place I've ever stayed. I did get a non-smoking room so it didn't smell that bad, but half of our group (all non-smokers) had smoking rooms and the windows don't open. The beds are not comfortable, the furniture is extremely cheap, the carpet is worn and dirty and the bathrooms (while large) are not in good repair.

Plenty of other guests - mostly 20ish guys learning to be dish network installers, who hung around outside the rooms in the evening drinking longnecks and smoking.

They did provide free breakfast. Microwave bite-sized sausage biscuits, orange juice, cold cereal and a few pieces of fruit. The lobby / dining area has 4 tables and seats 12 max (with no elbow room).

And they say you can't buy memories...
