I had to wonder if it's really fair to give a review of this hotel, since they're undergoing a renovation. But then I thought that they're changing their exterior and their updating their rooms, but I can still review services and amenities, so here goes.
Be prepared for a long walk to get to the registration desk. I don't see this changing after the renovation is complete. The attendant in the parking area asked if we wanted him to call a shuttle for us, we said yes, but he never did, because he decided he wanted us to call a bellman. (I noticed on another review that someone wanted a shuttle but one wasn't called.) We ended up just lugging our bags the whole way (did I mention it's a long walk?).
Registration went smoothly. The young lady told us she was putting us on the fifth floor and that we shouldn't hear any noise from the building construction there. She was wrong. At 8 AM one morning and at 0730 the next, we could quite clearly hear construction hammering, drilling, and voices. They sounded as if they were right above us. Not a nice wake up call.
We ate twice in The Buffet, one of the restaurants in the facility. Both times, let's just say we both spent a bit of time in the restroom after eating there. We didn't have that issue when we ate at other places.
There was only two bath towels in our room on arrival. A housekeeping cart happened to be right outside, and I asked the young lady if I could have a couple more towels for our room. She said I'd have to call housekeeping to bring some up. Oooookay. They did bring the towels promptly after I called, but I thought this was a bit weird.
The staff really promotes their bellmen and valets. I was waiting on a hotel shuttle bus to make a turn so I could self-park, and the driver rolled his window down and asked me if I was lost. I told him no, and he said "the best place for you to be is in our valet lot". I thought this was rather presumptive and rude.
I don't care much for gambling--I'm not too good at it--so I really can't rate the casino. This is not a non-smoking casino, if anyone is interested in that. The Palace, across the road, is non-smoking. I mention this because if you park where you have to walk through the casino and are a non-smoker, you'll have smoke smell on you after the walk.
Overall, you may want to just wait until the renovations are complete and the chaos has settled before staying here.
Find one away from construction noise if at all possible. A junior suite offers a good view of the...
