“Good location, Room OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

I found this hotel to be in a good location, across from the beach. I found the pool to be cloudy and iffy. Strong smell of chlorine in the morning, hair floating in the pool and other debris, even in the morning. By night it was very cloudy and could not see the bottom. Many chairs around the pool were broken and tables remained dirty even through the next day, covered in watermellon seeds and dirty hotel towels left from the night before. The breakfast was acceptable for free. The waffles were VERY good, but that's about it. The boiled eggs were hard and rubbery. The room was clean and I was happy to have a fridge and microwave. The safe was shut so it was inoperable. The AC worked fine, but shut off every so often and was loud to restart, so I did not sleep well as it kept waking me up every time it would come back on. Frustrating!! I don't think I would stay again. :( AND I was quoted a room rate of $130, turned out to be $139 plus all their taxes and fees.

An OK room if you don't plan on spending much time in it. The room was small and although it was nonsmoking, as a nonsmoker, I could definitely smell smoke residue. The smoke alarm also randomly went off during the night!! The bathroom was so tiny, I had to leave the door open while I used it! The room looked clean, but it felt like there was a dirty film to everything. It was a room the VA set me up in to spend the night before I had surgery the next day. It served its purpose, but I would never stay here on my own accord or with my own money. The location is great if you want to spend time at the beach. The two guys working the front desk were very nice and accommodating.

Pros:
1) Across from the beach (if that matters to you)
2) Middle of the road price

Cons:
1) MEATLESS Breakfast Buffet! I'm diabetic and I can't eat donuts, cereal, pastries, biscuits, and fruit for breakfast. Very unhealthy to start with. If a diabetic can't eat it then it is a good idea that no one eats it or you may become diabetic too.

2) NO ICE! None of the ice machines were working properly. They were running but no ice would come out.

3) Half the beverage machines were out of service. It was ridiculous.

4) Refrigerator would not cool your drinks. We had to drive 5 miles to Wal-Mart to buy things to drink to find out the refrigerator doesn't work. We left our beer and sodas in there over night expecting them to be cool enough to take out on a boat for a day of fishing...NOT! Totally ridiculous!

5) You could see and hear your neighbor in the bathroom next door! The bathroom vents were shared through the wall via a common exhaust stack. However, there was no DEVIDER blocking the connection between the two cutouts between the rooms... VERY DISTURBING!!

6) No nearby restaurants to get a REAL breakfast. You have to get in your car and drive quite a ways to get to even a McDonalds. There was a Waffle House in the same parking lot once upon a time, but it was destroyed in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina. That's right! 8 years later and they still have not rebuilt the Waffle House. So, if you want bacon and eggs for breakfast you better bring an electric skillet and a good ICE CHEST since the refrigerators don't work. Even worse, the sign for the Waffle House is still there!

7) Poor upkeep of the entire place (city). 8 years after Katrina and they still have not cleaned the sand off the sidewalks that the storm surge brought in. The landscaping is still a disaster. Absolutely no attempt has been made to bring back any form of aesthetic beauty to this coastal city. It's like they don't even care if anyone (tourist) come or not. Most of the businesses (including the casinos) that were destroyed by Katrina are still closed.

Bottom line, don't waste your time here in this motel or this city.

Great location! It's right across the hwy
From the beach and there is a beach chair rental place right there. It was very busy but everything was good. We skipped breakfast so I can't
Post about that. The pool was packed the entire time we were there. The staff was friendly and the room was good. Very clean and very quiet.

I stayed here during Memorial weekend and had a VERY nice experience. I showed up without a reservation and easily got a room on Saturday. and I got what I think was the best room in the house. first room one the south side on the bottom floor. After walking out the door, I had a spectacular view of the Beach and water across the street. easy to get to the beach and back.

this hotel is where I will stay if I return to this area again.(which I hope to many times)

My wife and I stayed here 1 night for a wedding in the area. The hotel is right across a busy highway from the beach. There's a mall and restaurants nearby. That aspect of our stay was great. The hotel is kind of run down and is populated by extended stayers. I guess that's normal for the area, but it does take something away from your vacation experience. Breakfast is below par for a Quality Inn. The staff we encountered were courteous and helpful. The prices were very reasonable for the location. All in all, we would probably stay here again unless the cost is comparable at nicer establishments.

I was really pleased with my stay here. The location could not have been better, right across from the beach!! The staff was friendly. The beds were comfortable enough. The breakfast was nice for the price as well (glad there was actually fruit!). The pool was clean and warm too. I would definitely stay here again!
