My husband and I chose this hotel for the price, and the previous reviews weren't too bad, so we thought it couldn't hurt to try it.
Check in went well, we only waited approximately 10 minutes-- there was only 1 person working the counter, and it was around 5:00 PM. Elavators are convenient in that they are just steps away from the entrance... BUT there are only two... and there are 9 floors. There were signs on the elevators stating that only 8 people at a time are aloud on the elevators.... This weekend that we were there, there were 2 events... One was the Blood & Sand Fighting match, in which the weigh-in was held on the second floor in the pool area. So getting to the second floor took a little longer, because the competitors and their "fans" were filing into the elevators (8 at a time, of course). That night there was a wedding reception on the 9th floor... People were lined up in lobby on first floor, and staff were counting heads as they filled the elevators up! It was pretty irritating.
The casino itself was on 2 floors, the first floor was very small, at some points, my husband and I had to stop and turn around because the aisle just literally came to a dead end!
All this aside, the staff were friendly. Our room was cleaned and stocked appropriately... Valet was quick and efficient. Buffet wasn't the best, not really worth the price. The rooms were FANTANSTIC. We booked a king with an ocean view-it was very nice! The bed was super cozy, and the balcony was nice, except for the seagulls that start screaming for someone to feed them--usually around 7 am every morning. The bathroom was ok. We just had a shower stall, the water pressure was almost non-exsistent-- took FOREVER to rinse out my shampoo!
I will say that Biloxi is doing a good job rebuilding after Katrina, it's still a mess down there, but it'll all come together... Please support them by choosing them to stay and play!

I stayed at Treasure Bay just after the July 4 weekend holiday for two nights. For those of you that don't know, the hotels in Biloxi are participating in a promotion through the Mississippi tourist bureau for a $50 free gas/gift card, two night minimum stay required. The card is redeemable at a Kangaroo convienence store in the general Biloxi/Gulfport area. You must make the reservation through the tourist bureau in order to qualify, not through the hotel directly.

As far as my experience with this property, I reviewed this property last year for a one-night stay, this is my second stay at this hotel (two nights this time). I can honestly say from the first to the second stay I have seen a considerable decline in the staff as far as friendliness, a desire to please the customer, and correct performance of duties. With respect to the hotel itself, the property is in fairly decent shape (except for the elevators), the rooms are recently renovated and are well apportioned and eye-catching (see my previous pictures from November, 2007).

Security guards abound at this hotel, the ones I saw doing lobby duty were noticeably unfriendly, bordering on surly. When I was bringing my laptop case to the guest elevator on unpacking the car, I was stopped by one security guard in the main lobby and asked if I was a guest. When I replied in the affirmative & showed my room key I was allowed to proceed.

Housekeeping staff this time around were not performing to minimum expectations. I found a drinking glass the first night that had been previously used by the last guest and just had a cover placed on it. Naturally, I set out the glass for the room make-up next day along with the one remaining glass we had (which we used). Well, neither glass was changed out by Housekeeping the next morning, the bed was not made correctly, and we didn't receive towels to replace what was used and left on the floor from the last night. We ended up shanghai-ing a housekeeper from an adjoining area and getting a hallway exchange for my glasses, plus towels to replace what had been removed & not brought back (the housekeeper assigned to our area had left).

There are two guest elevators serving the floors, during my stay I was actually stuck in one elevator for a short period of time since the doors refused to open at the lobby level. I had to pry the heavy doors open by hand to exit. That elevator was removed from service, leaving one elevator to serve eight guest floors for the rest of my stay. To say things were moving slowly would be an understatement (housekeeping & staff were also extensively using this elevator as well as handling casino & restaurant traffic). Even with two elevators working expect a wait to get to your floor during peak hours.

It was difficult to attract the attention of the front desk & gift shop staff as they were easily distracted by personal phone calls and chit-chat with other employees. The desk was also a busy place, apparently so busy in fact that the staff couldn't take the time to make eye contact or give you a friendly greeting. In fact, most all of the staff was neutral at best with respect to friendly interaction. No smiles, no greetings, the entire time we were there the general sense we received from the employees was "don't bother me". The only friendly people in the whole establishment we found were the 2nd floor Casino cashiers. We didn't try any of the restaurants this time based on the posted prices, we drove out and ate elsewhere.

Water pressure left something to be desired. It varied considerably and trying to get consistent hot water on the 6th floor was a problem. The water pressure for the shower was borderline unsatisfactory, there was flow but not too much of it.

I tried the pools on this visit. The upper level pool has a nice spill-over fountain to the lower level. The lower level pool had something that looked like clay deposits at the waterline on the tile at the end closer to the hotel, it was yeucchy looking. Pool cleaners need to do a better job. Both pools are shallow, less then 4 1/2 depth at the deepest. No child pool, they all used the main pools. One item to note for this property, there is no hot tub or Jacuzzi for guests in the pool area, if you expect this amentity you will be disappointed.

The beds between my first & second visit had become noticeably more soft (probably from use), in fact so soft that my back was killing me the next morning. The air conditioning in the rooms works very well, in fact so well that if you want AC while you sleep you will probably need to use the decorative, HEAVY comforter to stay warm. Blanket? What blanket? There wasn't one in the room.... we looked.

In summary, the property itself is still fairly nice with a few exceptions. The people side of the business needs some serious, serious work. Neither myself or my wife would stay again at this property unless the people problems are fixed. Nice people that do their jobs correctly can make up for a lot of property problems.

Upon arrival our confirmed Non-Smoking Room was not available. We were offered a smoking room. Desk attendants advised management was absent but as we were talking, management came into lobby. After management checked on availibility of a non-smoking room he stated that there were none available. We departed premises.

Rooms are wondeful, with all the amenities; buffet is small, but has everything one could ask for; casino personnel are friendly and professional, making you feel wanted, instead of a number, like other casinos. Even valet personnel give you a warm greeting!!

We will return as often as we can..

1. Upon arrival in our room we found the safe was locked and required the manager to come up and reset it. 4.5 hours latter we got it unlocked (3 minute job). During that time we carried 1600.00 around on us and our room was unknowingly left unlocked for thiefs to come in (see #2).

2. In the first four hours I discovered the Balcony door safety lock chain was cut and the door was set to feel locked when pushing down on handle but when you pulled up, it unlocked from the outside. 1.25 hours and three calls latter it was fixed (actual job took 15 minutes to fix0. Maid should have caught this. This room was setup to rob from the balcony. Ledge runs entire length of building and crook could walk down its entire length entering each room setup in this manner. We were on the 7th floor and I felt relatively safe from theft (at
first)!.

3. Buffet food was bad and the casual restaurant called “The Den” we waited 6 minutes at the podium for a host to seat us wit no one in the restaurant.

4. No room service, no TV guide on paper or on any channel, and no Hotel guest guide booklet in room to let you know about services, shops, how the safe works and other pertinent information.

5. No shower caps in hotel, not even in shops.

6. Four small drawers (2- night stand/2 in Ardmore) and 8 hangers in a room will have you living out of suit cases.

7. No pay per view movies or games.

8. Valet, Bellman and other such services are slow or too few to wait out the time required for them to arrive. We brought in our own luggage but were fortunate to have a Bellman available at 10:00 AM on our departure day. No courtesy carts.

9. Small elevators (6 people only).

10. Staff was not well informed as to whom to transfer us to when on 4 occasions we had problems and we were transferred through 3 to 4 persons before we got the knowledgeable one.

11. At the end of our third day we had a combination of 2300 (+) Players Club credits which they said were worth $46.00 but they refused to give us the money and could not give us a day at a reduced rate; they said they could only give us a day if we earned the actual credit worth of a days cost. When we checked in, we over heard another player being told his 350 credits would need to increase to 500 credits before he could draw $5.00. They do not honor the credits like other casinos do.

My suggestion after 2 visits at the Biloxi casinos (Isle of Capri and Treasure Bay) is don’t go. Their machines are tight and the Casinos pale in comparison to there pre-Katrina days. I found the Creek Indian casino has looser slots and more Vegas atmosphere!! And this was not all that happen bad there in three days; I just don’t have enough space to write the rest of it!!
