Owner description: Biloxi's original historical and sightseeing tour debuted in 1961 and 52 years later still departs from the Biloxi Lighthouse Park (Highway 90 at Porter Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39530). The "Biloxi Tour Train," also known to the locals as the "Biloxi Shrimp Train," is owned and operated by native Biloxians. 2013 marks Carla Beaugez Taconi and her husband August's 20th year sharing Biloxi's heritage, history and hospitality with visitors to this beloved city. If you're interested in an authentic and original journey while in Biloxi then this is the tour for you. "For centuries the World has come to Biloxi and I invite you to as well!"...Carla

“If you have limited time...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Ms. Carla is a daughter and granddaughter of Biloxi. She has resided on the coast through good times and bad. If you wish to learn about the city and your time is limited, then Biloxi Tour Train is your answer. She weaves a story & history into each visual attraction. You can board near the Visitor Center and Lighthouse. While tour buses in and around New Orleans are not popular amongst the locals, Ms. Carla has made the residents part of her tour. It was easy to see that the local residents appreciate that she is doing her part to bring tourism and jobs back to the Gulf Coast and Biloxi.

“Wonderful!”

Ms Carla gave us a heartfelt tour telling of the devastation that Katrina left behind. We had not known the the terrible loss this city had suffered if we had not taken this tour.

“Terriffic Biloxi tour straight from the heart”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

Because Carla the tour guide of the original Biloxi Train tour was so good and so sincere my husband and I returned the next year and again this year to volunteer on the Gulf Coast for Habitat for Humanity. Carla not only told us the history of the city both past and present but she told us about the people who make it a special city. You get this kind of honest heartfelt history from someone who has lived in the city and knows it and its people. I would recommend THIS tour to anyone anytime. Thank you Carla for the impact you made on us. We have taken this tour 3 times in 3 years and look forward to a 4th time and a 4th year!

“Great tour!”

This was a tour of the real Biloxi, hosted by a guide very in touch with the city and it's people. Very informative. One of the best things we did in Biloxi!

“Fantastic, loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Having arrived in Biloxi only a couple of weeks after Hurricane Isaac we were not sure if we would find this tour operating or not, but it was, the pick-up location had to be moved from its usual place to alongside the Visitor's Center.

One thing to be pointed out here is that if you are looking for this tour, and you should, make sure it is operated by Carla. Apparently other operations are posing as her tour, because of her reputation.

Carla is a wonderfully kind, soft-spoken, humorous, Mississippi, Biloxi itself, native. I enjoyed her personality as much as I enjoyed all the stories and history she filled us in on. The tour takes you through historic Biloxi, where you will see very old architecture, buildings, cottages. Anyone who sees the little train passing comes put to say hi, everyone seems to know Carla and she seems to know everything about the history of these parts. Having lived through Katrina herself, she can give you first hand knowledge of what happened here that was so under reported in the media. This town suffered terribly and you will see the evidence of that as well as the spirit shown in those who have continued to stay here. Carla was a wealth of information and you really can't leave Biloxi without doing this tour!
