“A Good Weekend”

Grand Biloxi Casino Hotel & Spa

Apr 28, 2008

The Grand was quite good for what it is and where it is. Biloxi is still rebuilding; and, the Grand is really a "temporary" casino in what was the hotel's conference area. It is small as most have noted, but I don't see that as a negative. Staff in the casino, the hotel, the bar and the restaurants were friendly.

The rooms were renovated after Katrina and are quite nice, though a little small.

The clientele skews to older people, say 40 and up.

The drawback, depending on what you're looking for, is there isn't much to do there when you aren't gambling. No shows, no band, no entertainment at all, indeed only one bar adjacent to the lobby.

The solution is a short cab or shuttle ride away at the other casinos.

A small plus for me, the hotel is owned by Harrahs. The comps weren't great; but, I've gotten two offers for two free nights since going (Sun. - Th.) coupled with a free buffet and $60 in slot credit. Not too bad.

The hotel room was nice and had a very comfortable bed and that's where it ended. There is no coffee in the room. They have a nice wireless internet service IF you like to pay $11.50 a day, can you believe that ??? We travel every six to eight weeks some where in North America and have never seen anything like that. The buffet was about a five on a scale of one to ten, and cost $10, 12, and $22 for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The casino was good but small. As far as beach goes let''s not even mention it. They're building a Marguiriteville across from the Grand and there is really no brach at the Grand at all. You can go down the street to a public beach but that's about it. Let's talk about the "comps" or maybe we shouldn't. I had four to five hours in on the blackjack table and about four hours of video poker, and my comps came to 46 cents, yes 46 cents. my wife plays the slots 25 cent to $1.00 and had put about $3,000. thru them in three days and she got the big comps $12. The next time we go it will be to The Isle of Capri. We spent some time there in the casino and at the buffet which was $5, $7, and $11 and similar food as the Grand. Keith Traudt

“Disappointed in The Grand Biloxi”

Grand Biloxi Casino Hotel & Spa

Apr 1, 2008

For those of you that are expecting a gulf-front hotel, this is not it. The Grand Biloxi still only has the hotel that is across the street from the original Grand/Casino on the Gulf. They have also built a very small casino adjacent to the hotel.

Everything is overpriced - $30/drinks at the 1 bar; the employees are neither helpful nor friendly. (with the exception of the one maid who showed us Pop's Liquor store which is only a short walk from The Grand!)

In addition, don't expect to win anything in the so-called casino.

Stay and play at Beau Rivage or Hard Rock.

We had a great stay at the Grand Biloxi- very nice room facing the pool/ocean. Nice, clean room... Bed was incredible- I wish we could have fit it in our car! haha... Slots were not as tight as I thought they would be. The buffet was pricey and not impressive, but the food was not as horrible as some of the reviews have made it sound.

I highly recommend this hotel.

“Nice hotel, might want to skip the buffet”

Grand Biloxi Casino Hotel & Spa

Mar 24, 2008

Recently spent a morning in the Grand Casino to play some slots, and try out the breakfast buffet. As other reviews have noted, the casino is relatively small (probably due to the construction of the Margaritaville resort that is presently ongoing), but everything was clean, neat, and not smokey at all. For those who do not care for a mega-casino, this would probably be a good place to try. Its not to large to find your way around easily.
The Grand Buffet, for breakfast, could use some improvements. The cost for breakfast is $9.99, and they did not offer anything more than some other buffets that are substantially less. They had the usual assortment of egg dishes, but no Eggs Benedict. There was an omelet station, but the product they produced was rather dry and a bit overcooked. Not a large selection of breakfast meats (sausage patties, no link), bacon and carved ham and smoked sausage made up the bulk of the selections. A few varieties of fruit, but not very ripe, although that could be blamed on it being mid-March. Containers of yogurt, but nothing fresh. And, most surprisingly, absolutely no breakfast pastries or desserts of any kind. Sure, you can pig out on the other stuff, but sometimes its nice to have something sweet with the last cup of coffee, but there was nothing to be found. Too bad, because the coffee was rather good!
Might want to try some of the other buttets elsewhere. I got about 1/2 off, using Total Rewards points, but would have been disappointed, it having to pay full price.
