Stayed here 2 nights for parents weekend at Winona State. I only paid $82 a night so wasn't expecting 4 stars or a super modern hotel. I don't expect up to date furnishings/TV, but I expect things to be clean and good service.
Fridge and microwave in room
Room was clean
Bathroom was clean
Shower pressure was good and plenty of hot water
Breakfast was normal fare. Bread was very good for toast. Nice and thick and not flat boring white bread.
Room cleaned to my satisfaction each day.
Stayed on 3rd floor - no elevator. Very pregnant front desk clerk offered to help my husband carry his big bag (came straight from a business trip to Winona) upstairs. He declined.
Hallway smelled of smoke 1st night (room smelled ok) and an orange cleaner the second.
Beds are very firm. My husband didn't mind, but both daughter and I were very stiff the next day. Daughter decided to go back and sleep in her dorm room bed because she said it was more comfortable.
Pillow very flat. Had to use 2. Wished I had brought my own.
Both key cards were deactivated on the 2nd day. Had to get clerk to reactivate.
Finally, I was very irritated by this. We checked in at 9 pm Friday night. Clerk did not give my back my ID and credit card and I did not realize this until the 2nd morning. Husband went down to check with the front desk. There was a note saying they had them, but clerk could not find. Husband came back upstairs as clerk was too busy checking people out. He went down 20 mins later. She still couldn't find them, but husband insisted she look harder. Finally found.
I wonder why they didn't call the room or leave a note when they realized they had them. We were there 2 nights. Plenty of time to get in contact with us. If you stay here, make sure they give you back your ID and credit card.
