I like to try local beers and food. I was expecting a brewpub with a local selection based on the name and other reviews. They had only 3 "Bub's Brand" beers and it turns out they are brewed off site under contract. They did have an actual Minnesota beer, Surly that is a great IPA type brew. I had a cajun chicken sandwich and paid $1.50 for what the menu stated as thin cut fries. Also a homemade bun from the highly rated local bakery. My companion ordered chicken gumbo soup and a grilled cheese with tomato. After a long wait we were served. (they were not that busy at 6:30pm). The chicken was very good with spices and cheese onions and peppers as advertised. The bun was a soggy mess due to not draining the fried vegetables and/or sitting time. The fries were standard crinkle cut frozen. My girlfriend's soup was good although not homeade. The grilled cheese was soggy bread, American cheese and tomatoes. The waitress did comp the grilled cheese since it was less than half eaten. Service by out waitress was pleasent enough. They need to kick up the kitchen service and menu descriptions. Overall, this was a below average meal for bar food. I gave them average because they did comp the grilled cheese.I would not go back there to eat or drink.
