“Decent Accomodations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2011

We stayed in one of the theme rooms, because the regular rooms were full. The room theme was titled "Decoys." It had various duck hunting themed decorations and a few additional bird knick knacks. The room had a king bed, and an in room jacuzzi tub. The bathroom also had a tub/shower mix and a mirror, sink and vanity area was located just outside the bathroom. I found the hotel to be reasonably clean. The breakfast selection in the morning was poor. The noise from the pool was loud. Request a room far from the pool and main lobby if want it to be quiet.

Room Tip: Request a room far away from the pool and main lobby if you want a quiet room!

We were dropping off my husband's sister and decided to stay the night. We had no reservations and just walked in--the front desk lady (Macgrath) was amazing and friendly. The price was so much less than what we are use to paying in oilfield country that we were shocked into silence! The room was the cleanest I have been in, in forever--we actually had down comforters and not just the thin blankets. I've never smelled sheets so fresh. Pool was also clean and fun. Overall I wish we could find this kind of hotel in the towns we usually stay in.

There were no "Grumpy Old Men" on staff at this hotel in Wabasha, MN, home of the famed "Grumpy Old Men" movies. From the time we made our reservation via phone the day we needed 2 rooms to the time we check out the next day, we experienced royalty-like treatment. We were joining friends for a few days as they travelled by tandem bike across the Northern Tier route and day one of our journey led us to this fabulous hotel in Wabasha. Steve was at the front desk when we checked in and he made us feel right at home. We have never had an unpleasant stay at any AmericInn and this one set the bar pretty high for future stays at any other hotels. Thanks AmericInn staff for making our short stay so fun. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in the AmericInn in Wabasha for the 100 mile garage sale they have every year in the area. We had the Executive Suite and the Grumpy Old Men Suite and they were both wonderful rooms. We also ordered the Grumpy Old Men Package which included a basket of goodies including a "Green Hornet" fishing pole, wine, snacks, and two Grumpy Old Men mugs. If you're a fan of the movies you'll love it! There is also a coupon book and a dinner coupon included with the package. The dinner coupon is good for $15 off almost all of the local eateries...even the Dairy Queen just up the road. Breakfast was fully stocked both days with hot and cold and everything was neat. There were even trays available so you could take your food up to your room, which I like.

Room Tip: If you can, pay up for a suite, well worth it.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2010

Stayed there during the December 10th/11th blizzard. We had planned on staying only the night of the 10th but due to bad weather we stayed another night. The staff was most accomodating to people like us that got stranded there. The desk clerk that worked the afternoon shift was most heplful (I wish I knew her name to recogniza her but hopefully management reads this and can find out who it was). The next morning we ask the desk clerk if we could stay until noon (check-out is 11) so we could make sure the roads were cleared and he also was most accomodating to us. We stayed in a standard room and that was exactly what it was ..... no surprises and it was very clean. The breakfast was fine (have stayed at many other hotels and it was even alittle better than some). I highly recommened this place ......

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in one of the themed suites for a realxing mini-vacation before the holidays. The hometown package was well worth the money! The staff were kind and helpful and the room was decorated warmly. The whirlpool and fireplace were so relaxing. We're planning a visit again next year!
