Every time we have stayed here it's been great. The house is beautiful and well maintained. Food is delicious - beautiful scones for breakfast. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. Tom and Sandy are friendly and welcoming. Love it here!

My fiancé and I needed a night away after a very trying few months at work - and we found it at the Sauntry Masion. As a history student, I adored the feel of being transported back in time in our perfectly-restored room. The amenities were many: drinks and Hors d'oeuvres in the evening, wonderful whirlpool bath, and a delicious and large breakfast brought right to our room in the morning! Tom was very sensitive to my gluten allergy, ensuring I had enough to eat. I hope to return soon!

A treasure trove of delightful details everywhere you turn. Beautiful wood carved shutters - intricate webs of chains of wood in front of gorgeous stained glass going up the main stairway. A gorgeous "stair step" radiator flanking that same grand stairway. Exquisite ceiling paintings & wall coverings. Wine, beer, cider, cheese, fruit & more kicked off our evening of relaxation. Even the quarter-round outside our shower was marble. Shower was awesome - steam, waterfall, rainforest, jets, seating for two - got us so relaxed before we melted into the most comfortable bed we've ever dreamed in, lulled to sleep by soothing music available in our room. Breakfast was a delicious adventure for our eyes & palates. Thank you Sandy & Tom for welcoming us into our gorgeous home. We will definitely be back to enjoy another get-away.

I called today and asked Tom for information about renting space for a baby shower. Since the website does indicate that it's a great location for showers (bridal showers ARE specifically mentioned), I was surprised when he basically scoffed at me and said "Well, it's $500." My response was, quite simply, "Oh really? Ok." To which he replied "Well yeah, we've put a million and a half dollars in the place." Thanks for sharing that information Tom, and nice attitude. I'm sure this is a lovely place to stay. I'll never find out because I refuse to give business to someone who can't be bothered to be courteous.

I'm not sure how to respond to this, particularly as the reviewer isn't/wasn't a customer.

When we receive inquiries for "special events", the first thing we do is discuss the price. Most people have a budget and we want to address cost right away. That's not rude, its a first step in establishing the basis for an economic transaction whereby some elect to continue the conversation, while others decide it is beyond their budget. In this case, it was the reviewer who "scoffed" at the pricing, such that I felt the need to respond/justify it. That was inappropriate and won't happen again.

The uptick is that we value our customers and will do almost anything we can to accomodate them. We have been in business for over 15 years and have a solid track record (see other tripadvisor reviews) of outstanding customer service. But, we do have to charge a price which allows us to stay in business. That's just the way it is.

We visit this bed and breakfast over and over again! Tom and Sandy are very welcoming and friendly while not intruding on one's privacy. The mansion has been maintained to an impeccable standard. The hors d'oeuvres table at check in is a great touch! The breakfasts are always amazing with 3 course, made-from-scratch breakfasts. We have tried about a dozen B and B's and this one trumps them all!

Sandy and Tom make you feel right at home. They know Stillwater and dispense solid advise on places to eat or shop. Then again you may want to stay put in one of the reading rooms or just take in the craftsmanship that surrounds you. For lovers of hand carved woodwork, this alone is worth a stay. Have had dozens of B&B breakfasts but these are the best- period. To those who walk( and want the iconic Stillwater photos) go over to Pioneer Park- overlook downtown & the bridge , walk down the stairs behind the band stand, go along the river to the end of Lowell Park, walk up the Main Street stairs ( overlook downtown again). Return via Main Street stairs - or Chilikoot Hill. See the Carniege Library for the 1902 style and the new terrace view. Return to The Sauntry and relax in style.
