We were visiting family and friends. Our room was wonderful. We had a fireplace and hot tub in the room. It was clean, new carpet and bathroom had to have been recently updated. The young man who brought us our pizza at 2:30am was pleasant and didn't even mind that we bothered him that late!

My husband and I stayed here for our one year anniversary and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and accommodating even before we arrived. They were quick to respond via e-mail when we had questions - and were the same in person. We stayed in a St. Croix suite, which had a GREAT view and we opted for the Romance Package.

The room was clean and inviting. It was what we wanted and expected. If you are looking for that new W Hotel feel, then this isn't the place for you. We loved it though - the building is older, which is something to keep in mind.

The restaurant downstairs was great - again, the staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. A special kudos to our waitress that night: Christy B, I think was her name. Same with breakfast the next morning; Food was great and Britney was wonderful. (As was all the staff). The Romance Package was a great deal, between dinner, breakfast and champagne in the room.

Location is outstanding - we can't wait to go back in the summer!

We planned to stay a week and lasted 1 night. Because we booked for a week they upgraded us from a Parlor Suite to a St Croix Suite for the same price, which seemed reasonable. But it beggars belief that they can ask a normal weekend rate of $250 for such a dump, even in the lowest season! Our "top-of-the-line" suite boasted a cramped, diapidated bedchamber with a cheap, beaten-up four-poster, a small bathroom whose toilet broke down at the first flush and whose sole shelf was hanging by a thred over the sink, and a large, drab, living room, largely empty except for a jacuzzi tub in one corner (how weird is this?), several old chairs against the walls (badly in need of re-springing) and a flat-screen TV above the gas fireplace best viewed while standing in the middle of the room!! There was no fridge or minibar; "complimentary" breakfast was minimal and very ordinary and, to top it off, when we checked in they sent us around to the rear entrance to struggle with luggage across a path being cleared of snow & ice for the first time in a very long time. Needless to say no assistance was offered with luggage. Unless you have no alternative, do not stay at this place!

We never left Minnesota and yet the state of the room with its broken tile floor, moldy tub and faucets that did not work made me think I was in a third world country. The bed was comfy but the lamps did not work, the bathroom fan was overly-loud and TV remote performed erraticly and were not worth the cost of a night's stay. The food was hit and miss. Over all the worst part of our stay was having less cleanliness and amenities than we would have had at a Motel 8.

My boyfriend planned a romantic get-away weekend for my birthday, and he took the most breath-taking scenic route to get there... Those who write negative reviews about this place obviously do not appreciate the history of this building, this are, and the fun that can be had in downtown Stillwater! It's a beautiful OLD building, and they have worked hard at preserving that... working with it... using that to their advantage! We had a wonderful time! Make some memories.
Get out and about while you're there too! (shops & restaurants all over)
The staff is very courteous and friendly; ready to answer any and all of your questions and inquisitions. The Irish Pub was A BLAST. Live music, stiff drinks, good times, lotsa laughs! xD
*Relax & Enjoy your stay at this romantic get-away!*

My wife and I went to the Water Street Inn for a one night getaway. We had high hopes after seeing the pictures and checking out the website. We purchased a room package that included the "four course meal". My wife ordered the steak with a lobster pinwheel and it was way over seasoned. I tried a bite of the steak and I almost sneezed from the amount of pepper. I ordered the BBQ salmon, which wasn't that that great either. Our waitress bought us a round of drinks after they brought me out the wrong meal. On the bright side, the potatoes were good. I had also asked to have some flowers waiting in our room for my wife. For $35 I would have expected a lot more. Some of the flowers were already dying and I could have purchased a better bouquet at the grocery store. When I approached the front desk to discuss the quality of the flowers, I was given no apology and was told that it was one of the best bouquets they had seen. Overall, our experience wasn't anything to brag about. I would not recommend this place.

We stayed at the Water Street Inn for one night. We purchased a package that included dinner in the dining room. The dinner was excellent with great service. The Irish Pub on the main floor was rocking with live music but didn't bother us in the dining room. The room was a suite with an extra room with a whirlpool tub. There was a hole in the wall, looked like some punched it, covered with a piece of wallpaper and tape?? The room was warm and we had a hard time regulating the temp. The bed was not comfortable. The hotel did not offer hypoallergenic pillows/bedding so my husband suffered a bit. The view from the balcony was beautiful. This hotel could be great if it just had a little a tweaking on the small details.
