“We love it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012

We love the charm and character! This is truly an historic building, not a cookie cutter corporate chain nor an ultra modern overly priced hotel with just a bed to sleep in. You get a big room with a fireplace, jacuzzi, and often a balcony with unique decor. We have been back again and again, well over 10 times. Every time they have made improvements since our last visit. Like any old building, something always needs a little TLC, but that's what we love about it. The food, pub and location are great too!

We bought a B&B package deal with room, 3 course dinner for two, two drinks a the bar and breakfast for $159. Had we been able to get the room type that was included with the package, it would have been a pretty good value. The "upgraded" room we paid extra for was quite large, but the noise from what I assume to be a roof mounted A/C unit was almost unbearable. Thankfully, it wasn't running when we tried to go to sleep at 1am, so we could hear the music from the 1st floor wedding just fine. That noise ended by 1:10. On the plus side, the food was very good, and the Irish band in the bar was great fun. Service in the bar was good, but a bit inattentive in the restaurant.

Room Tip: Lots of A/C noise in 308.

For the money the beds are terrible, decor is old and falling apart. The food was over rated and the girl at the front desk looked like she had not a clue.

We received a package stay here as a Christmas gift that included a night in a suite, a three course dinner for two, breakfast and a few free drinks. We showed up early (and starving) hopefull we could move up our dinner reservations. The woman at the front desk, as well as our waitress were so friendly and genuine. Our package dinner was limited to certain menu selections, we had steak and pasta and they were FABULOUS. All the sauces, pasta, everything is made in house, fresh and you can REALLY taste the difference. We will definatly be back to try some more menu items. Highly reccomend the guiness chocolate cake. After dinner we went to Charlie's Pub in the hotel for drinks. They had an awesome live Irish band and again, GREAT service. Later we roamed stillwater stopping for a drink at a few of the many near-by bars and enjoying the weather and charm of stillwater. We slept in so missed a chance at trying the breakfast in the morning. Overall, every employee of the Waterstreet Inn Hotel, restaruant and Charlie's Pub were fantastic, whoever is doing the hiring is spot on. The hotel, bar and dining area were sparkling clean. We did not pay for our room, so I can't say exactly what the rates were but we did check out the menus and spent plenty of time at the bar and everything we ate and drank was well worth the pretty reasonable prices we paid, so I would imagine the room rates aren't unreazsonable. They were also setting up for a wedding...what a beautiful Venue! Wish I would have stayed here BEFORE I got married. Long story short....we will be staying here again no question about it! Its worth the drive for us from the twin cities (about a half hour) just to have dinner there again, I would very highly reccomend this hotel if you're staying in the area!!

I took my entire manament staff to the Water Street Inn and we had a fantastic time. The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff was fantastic and the food was incredible. The location is close to the river right in the heart of downtown St. Paul. We will defintely be back!

The staff was very accomodating, the restaurant had good food, the bar had live music and free popcorn, and the room was lovely. Stillwater is a great little town for a romantic getaway, and my husband and I had a great time.

Our rooms were quite large with a large reception hall that entered into a room with a table and eight chairs. Not sure what the game plan was for such a large dining table in the room but it made us wonder if we should have brought our entourage. We also had a large bedroom with double (clean) whirlpool tub.The food in the dining room was quite good and the waiter, Charles, very attentive. It was a unique get away and the staff was very accomodating.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side have traffic noise from the bridge which is literally just out the window. Y...
