We have stayed at Cape Hillsborough Nature resort many times over the years - usually as a family at off peak times and week-ends, but also at times with groups of friends, either camping or in beach side cabins. However, after our stay there for the Easter holidays, we won't be back. The location and is beautiful and the park used to be ideal for families and children - not anymore - it is under new management. After paying in full for our stay over the phone, we received, via mail, an extensive description of what we were not allowed to do when we arrived, complete with a condescending list of unacceptable excuses if a booking was cancelled. The info we received also stated that there would be lots of organised activities for children, which was not true and at best misleading. There is an activity room, where children used to be able to go to play games and hang around... not anymore. Now, there is a pool table, which children under 14 were not allowed to play at all, and if they were over 14, they had to be in the presence of an adult! (who had $20 deposit each time). The only other activity was the ping pong table (which required a $10 deposit), some board games (which were also behind closed doors and had to be specifically requested) and a movie each night. The activity room was constantly watched by staff or management. Thankfully, it didn't rain and there are lots of outdoor things for children and families to do there, including fishing, walking on the beach, swimming in the pool, climbing the rock pools, etc, but the fun of going to an activities room with other children is gone. Upon arrival, we were given a fluorescent pink arm band each to wear, to ensure that freeloaders were not accessing the park. The owner acted very busy and important (and came across as rude and arrogant) and during our stay, he bustled us out of the way a couple of times when he was loading equipment in the shop. The room was clean and well maintained, but also came complete with a list of what we couldn't do. There was fish and chips Friday and Saturday nights, but we were told to order early to avoid missing out. The food ceased and shop closed at 6.30pm each night. I am SO disappointed with the way the park is being managed, and that there is nowhere else to camp or stay at Cape Hillsborough. We will have to find somewhere else to go for family week ends away. :(

We pride ourselves on striving to deliver an excellent holiday experience and to expedite the check in process use the standard practices of most accommodation providers by advising guests of booking terms and conditions, cancellation policies, park rules and activities prior to arrival.
It is not uncommon to require a deposit for park equipment such as pool cues and table tennis bats and the issue of arm bands for the pool during peak periods is in the best interests of all. We have experienced over 60 extra persons using the pool at times which inconveniences those who have paid to be here. We provided various activities during the school holidays including movies everyday, sand castle competitions and crafts and hope to expand on the program in future. We are puzzled by comments about the activity room and shop as the open hours, deposits and equipment is unchanged from the previous management but again we will take your review under consideration.
Thank you again for giving us your feedback and we hope to see you again at Cape Hillsborough Nature Resort
