“Great winter escape”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Spacious cabin accommodation and surprise breakfast hamper (which we were not expecting). Melissa and family made us feel very welcome with a bottle of wine and homemade goodies. We spent a lovely day driving around the countryside and enjoyed an excellent dinner at the Settlers Arms Hotel in Dungog, which is only 10 minutes away. If you are looking for a peaceful couple of days in the country I would definitely recommend Gumnut Glen.

I loved every minute of our stay. The place is lovely. The owners are fantastic. Their children adorable. The animals very cute. Will definitely be back and will recommend the place to anyone who wants to head in this direction for a break.

We purchased this weekend away as one of those 'coupons' available online. A nice drive up from Sydney (3 hours) and easily found on the road just north of Clarence Town (itself a lovely old country town).

Our desire was to to have a quiet onsite weekend with the dogs - yes it is dog friendly, rather than a tourist led wander around the area. Perfect for that. Lots of land - we did wander onto the next door property to really give the dogs their roaming legs a run - and quiet.

Nice people are onsite as the owner/managers.

Drawbacks:
The other 3 cabins are not that close but probably could have been another 10 metres away - perhaps ramp up the plantings between each one for enhanced privacy.
While we were told no need to pickup the dog poo, hopefully it dries quickly as trading on it can be gross. Horse and cow poo is a tad more obvious in a field!

Room Tip: Ask for the cabin furthest from the main house (#4 I think)

I can't wait to return, my husband and I had a great weekend away. Melissa the owner made us feel relaxed and valued from the time we arrived. The accommodation is peaceful and relaxing which was exactly what we were looking for. The Personal touches, breakfast basket, wine and homemade brownies sets Gumnut Glen above most other places we have stayed at. Thank you Melissa for making our stay with you a truly wonderful experience.

to find such excellent accommodation and the "hostess with the mostest"! We loved staying at the cabins and will be returning on a regular basis. Outstanding value, very clean and tidy with everything you need, comfortable bed, plenty of room, a home away from home - we could live there! Melissa gives 5 star friendly, genuine and helpful service and goes the extra mile to make everyone's stay enjoyable. The location is quiet and peaceful, beautiful bush surroundings, the perfect place to get some rest and relaxation as well as visit some of the local places of interest. Wish we could keep the Gumnut Glen Cabins a secret so we could enjoy it all for ourselves...highly recommended.

Melissa was very accommodative & flexible from the very beginning when making our booking and right through to when we arrived & during our stay. The warmth & hospitality of the Gilliland family impressed us very much. They were like an extension to our family.
The breakfast hamper was good, and Melissa went out of her way to ensure the BBQ was nicely cleaned & ready to use when we checked in a little late in the evening.
Our 2 young boys became fast friends with Matthew, Melissa's & Michael's son, & were included in roasting marshmallows around the bonfire or campfire that was lit during one of the evenings that we were there.
Matthew was even allowed to come with us & be our tour guide of sorts when we went to visit the nearby waterfall, etc.
Definitely feel a kinship with the Gillilands & Gumnut Glen, and will not hesitate to go again.

we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay and were very comfortable even if the weather was uncooperative. Nothing was too much trouble for Melissa and we appreciated her excellent breakfast hamper and tasty fudge. The dogs were very welcoming every morning and afternoon.
Lovely spa and comfortable bed. Highly recommended to get away from it all.
