No way this place was recently rennovated. In fact, the sign sitting on the counter of the check-in desk said "pardon our mess, we are currently renovating our hotel." Although the hotel could have much going for it, lack of staff, poor/too few housekeepers, and awful beds and pillows equals not worth the price.
Despite a friendly and helpful front desk staff, this hotel is one of the worst I've experienced. Every morning I woke up to an aching back-- despite the amount of travel I do I don't remember every staying somewhere with beds this bad--and I've stayed at Super 8's on up. The pillows were even worse. Not one pillow on the two beds were the same. All were various levels of lumps and/or flatness. The beds and pillows were what I would expect to find on a curb on trash pick up day.
Elevator and our room was not vaccuumed in the four days that we were there. (I know since I spotted the same trash in the elevator, a peanut that I dropped the first day we checked in, along with scores of paint chips from the peeling paint.)
The third day that we were there, we arrived at nightfall to find no towels in our room. I went to the front desk and found out that they had run out of towels and were busy washing and drying towels to take to rooms. By the time I arrived back at the room I found out that one of our beds had no sheets. Housekeeping had just pulled up the bedspread to make the bed look made.
The fitness room lacked water, towels (which I went back downstairs and picked up towels the three mornings I worked out, housekeeping service (the dirty towels were never removed from the basket, nor was the trash picked up) or phone (just a phone jack was there).
People propping open the back door and hanging out in the halls all made it an experience I won't want to repeat.
