“Beautiful relaxation retreat!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for our 3rd anniversary, and we WILL be back!! This place is SO very beautiful, pictures do not do it justice! We stayed in the Evergreen suite, enjoyed not just tasty but creative and beautiful breakfasts delivered to our room each morning. When the food was brought they took great care to be quiet bringing in the food for us, and even though we were always awake I found it very thoughtful. We enjoyed coffee on the private balcony, and even a night of stargazing on the balcony with the beautiful sound of the river below. The room was so much more spacious than we ever imagined. The room was well stocked with supplies to make coffee, as was the common area. My husband especially enjoyed the delicious homemade cookies in the cookie jar in the common area, said they were the best cookies he's ever had! The location of the place is serene and beautiful, and it's nice to be able to just take a walk down to the lake if you want. I slept like a baby in the HUGE bed, and found it difficult to come home to my little Queen size bed! Lura is a gracious and fabulous hostess, and you can tell she loves her place and what she does. Great care has been taken to make this place a home away from home and then some. We fell in love with this wonderful place and can't wait for our next trip!!! If you are thinking about a trip to the North Shore, YOU'VE FOUND YOUR ACCOMODATIONS!!! The price is right, the service is the best there is, and it's beautiful! What more do you need to know? Do not pass this place up!! I promise you won't be sorry!!!

Room Tip: The Evergreen suite is beautiful and spacious, but ANY of the rooms look wonderful!!

Stayed here for 2 nights in early May on our first trip to the North Shore of Lake Superior. We were ecstatically happy with everything. Our room and adjoining bath with jetted tub were spacious and beautifully decorated as were the others that we peeked into. Breakfast was gourmet but not overdone. The common areas are comfy and inviting. Our only regret is that we were so busy exploring the area, hiking in the parks, etc, that we didn't get to interact with the wonderful owners more. Just because it's not directly on the lake, don't disregard this gem of a place - it's a very short drive off the main highway and so worth the quiet and relaxation. The perfect place to unwind.

Room Tip: We stayed in the River Room and loved falling asleep to the sound of the nearby river.

My husband and I enjoyed three beautiful days and nights at Baptism River Inn and B&B. We splurged on the Evergreen Suite and found it to be an ideal spot to relax and enjoy this beautiful North Shore treasure. By day we explored the beautiful lakes and forests in the area and at night relaxed in our lovely home away from home. Lura and Andy are the perfect hosts, providing a genuinely warm, welcoming environment and a lovely breakfast to start every day. We celebrated a birthday and anniversary on this trip but decided that any excuse will do to return to Baptism River Inn and B&B in the future. Thanks so much to our hosts for the imagination and hard work they have invested to make this place really special.

Room Tip: Evergreen Suite was fantastic! Sunny with gorgeous views. Balconies of other rooms available might...

We only stayed for a Saturday evening but after experiencing the location, the rooms, the breakfast, the service, etc...we wish we had stayed much longer! The rooms are cozy and the bed's may be one of the most comfortable bed's i've ever slept in. The Breakfast was tasty and not too filling, coffee was warm and high quality, orange juice was great and it came right on time. The location is beautiful and they have a little swimming hole a 2-3 min walk away which is a great wake up in the morning (water is cold and the river is beautiful). It is a short drive from the Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls. The owners are very nice and actually came down to say goodbye when we were at the swimming hole. Overall a great experience for a solid price, I'd definitely suggest it if you are up for the drive.

Room Tip: We stayed in the "R" room, it was a perfect size for two, had a balcony and a nice bathroo...

If you looked up the word "serene" in the dictionary, we suspect you might find a picture of this place. We spent two nights and came home totally relaxed and rejuvenated. There are no televisions but we did "cheat" and brought a portable DVD player to enjoy a complimentary loaner movie or two. The breakfast was good, though not overly large. The innkeepers Lura and her husband Andy are very nice, welcoming, and accommodating folks. I was able to park my motorcycle under cover on their rear patio. That may not sound important to some, but to me it made a big impression. The main thing though, was the atmosphere of the whole Inn. Nestled off Hwy 1 in the hills above Lake Superior and Silver Bay it's not even easy to find without specific directions. Gravel drives and a small wooden plank bridge are involved. As a result traffic sounds, really ANY outside sounds are nonexistent. The nearby Baptism River is a five minute walk through the woods down a trail located nect to the remote sauna house. The river chuckling over the rocks can be clearly heard from the house, and we fell asleep each night listening to it's soothing murmur. For someone looking for a little "couple time" for whatever reason, we cannot speak highly enough of this location.

Room Tip: The "River Room" is the one which faces the Baptism River and has the best background soun...

Perfectly located a few minutes outside of Silver Bay, this characterful B&B is ideal for those wanting to see the highlights of the North Shore, including Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls, both of which are within 15 minutes' driving distance. The B&B itself is very cosy, with a nicely decorated lobby and dining area, with tea and coffee-making facilities. Lura was very welcoming and gave excellent suggestions for things to see and do. The Northern Lights room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The addition of a whirlpool jacuzzi bath was a bonus after a long day's hike or cycling. Breakfast was a hot, cooked meal and an ideal way to start the day. Highly recommended and would happily stay here again.

We had a wonderful time. The hospitality was warm and friendly, the setting was beautiful, breakfasts were delicious. We enjoyed the close access to good food in the surrounding area for suppers, and the beautiful state parks nearby for some fun recreation. We're already thinking about going back.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Sunset Room, was affordable and had a large tub, balcony, mini-fridge, CD player.
