Room 1568 is clean and comfortable though you could hear the tv from the next room. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet in the Town Grill was quite good with offerings of fruit, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, muffins, etc. As a matter of fact, service throughout the hotel was friendly, helpful and very good.

Four blocks down is the Trattoria da Vinci restaurant that's not worth the walk.

The Downtown St. Paul DoubleTree was an excellent choice. The central location made it easy to walk to the Fitgerald Theater and other locations. The hotel has direct access to the sky walk system which made it so easy to walk to many locations indoors. There are many restaurants on the sky walk which are only open Monday-Friday. The restaurant at the hotel had reasonable prices and an interesting array of menu items. The maid service was excellent. The frig and microwave made is east to reheat entrees. Expedia had a special price with made it possible to stay for seven days. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Location was convenient but the service was sketchy. When the room service attendant came to our room, she made a very derogatory comment in broken English after seeing the political discussion that happened to be on TV at the time. We ordered a bottle of wine and she handed my boyfriend the wine opener. She would not open the bottle or leave the opener with us. She made my boyfriend open the bottle while she waited and watched.

On our way home on our second night, there was a special needs guest waiting at the front desk when the front guest attendant was reviewing and posting on Facebook. The guest was complaining that a party that was occurring on the floor below here\ was preventing her from being able to sleep, but the front guest attendant told her there was nothing she could do and then went back to Facebook. We were so upset at overseeing the treatment of the guest that we left a message for the manager to call us the following morning, but we never received a call.

The hotel is located close to the business district and is near to the airport. The rooms are neat and clean. The rooms have all basic amenities - microwave, tea coffee maker, work table and free wi-fi connection. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast to guests but has almost the same menu everyday (i guess they rotate the menu every 3 days). The breakfast buffet has both Veg and Non-Veg options. However the in room dining is not very good and is available only till 11 pm. The housekeeping at times did not do the cleaning well and left the used cups and spoon in the room. The reception staff is helpful but they do not have a concierge desk so if you are visiting Saint Paul for the first time gather your tourist information (places to visit, transportation etc) online. The area around is quite safe and has many good eateries around. However most of the food joints, shops, supermarkets, stores close by 6/7 pm.

For people who want to explore the city can visit Summit Avenue and Minnesota science museum or try going to near by cities/states. For good food try Pazzaluna, it serves good Italian cuisine. Also try Macy's River Room they serve awesome wild rice soup and pop over! For shopping Nicolette street at Minneapolis is a good option.

Overall a decent hotel for a short trip!

I've read reviews that weren't so stellar about this hotel after booking it and frankly, I found none of that information to be true and just wanted to relate my positive experience. The staff was warm, welcoming and accommodating. You get that great Doubletree warm chocolate chip cookie on check in. The desk clerk got me a great room with a view and was nothing, but accommodating. The rooms have a microwave and refrigerator that is stocked with complimentary water bottles. As a Hilton Honors guest I got a BOGO coupon for a drink at the bar. I also dined in the restaurant upon a recommendation to try the chicken and wild rice soup. Unfortunately that was not on the menu that night. The food was average, but the service was very nice. I'd also heard the decor described as dated, but I did not find that to be true. The lobby looked lovely and the hallway and rooms were up to date as well.
The location is perfect! I did not rent car, but walked and/or used the metro system to get around. The hotel is connected to the skyway around downtown and that made it convenient to reach certain stores and restaurants. The bus stop around the corner takes you to the airport and Mall of America about 30 minutes away). If I get a chance to visit St. Paul again, I'd definitely come back. This was a great experience.

Room Tip: The rooms ending in 70 are end units with a large step up bathroom and large bank of windows. Choos...

Extremely comfortable bed, very quiet room with microwave and refrigerator, free wi-fi, a great free breakfast (HiltonHonors perk?), and a food court right next door. I asked for a non-smoking room, but when I checked in,none were available. To compensate, I was given good coupons for dinner and drinks, very nice. I enjoyed my stay.

We had a very nice, quiet room with a little refrigerator and microwave on the 8th floor. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations of places to eat and maps and directions. The room had a coffee maker, too, so we could have our first cup in the room and then go out for breakfast. The hotel's location was great; the connection to the sky way was right there, and we could get just about anywhere downtown without going outside.

Parking was $15 a day (which is not bad for a downtown hotel) and we were given a card to swipe so we had in an out privileges. The parking garage was very roomy and just adjacent to the hotel.

We didn't have any meals in the hotel restaurant, so I can't comment on that. We don't like big breakfasts so we went just down the street to a bagel place. The hotel restaurant closed at 11 am and didn't open until supper time. We opted to go out for breakfast and supper. We were out at lunch time anyway.

My husband and I agree that we would stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: The 8th floor was very quiet and the housekeepers were great.
