It was okay. Went for a 3 day conference. Nice location, but the room walls were thin. And then then were 'sold out' of the conference rate. That was weird!
But the night staff was more the accomodationg, even when my cell phone charger died. They brought out a entire box of left over chargers for me.
Again it was alright. All of my friends stayed at the St. Paul Hotel, and maybe I will try it next time.

The room was large & comfortable. The view was of the river. (And while I was there a big, bright moon rose every evening over the river--beautiful.) The parking was convenient, but not free. It is easy in and out of the garage; St. Paul is easy to drive in and there is not much traffic and the world's most polite drivers are in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area! My husband was at a conference, but I played tourist all week. This hotel is within walking distance of just about everything downtown. The Liffey has a nice roof-top area. I only ate there once but what I ordered was good and they have a nice beer selection. Lots of young people there on the roof top! I have to agree with the other reviews that this is a noisy hotel--banging doors, voices in the halls, and traffic noise, but it wasn't unbearable. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

I spent 3 nights at this property recently. The hotel is nicely situated near the downtown area. There are some decent restaurants and a Starbucks within walking distance. Parking is in a deck adjacent to the hotel. The desk staff were plesant and helpful throughout my stay. I had booked a non-smoking double. The room was small with one of the beds almost right next to the door. The room was clean and in good repair. The beds were comfortable. Everything worked and the water pressure was HIGH! I didn't use the dinky pool or the fitness center so I can't comment on them. My biggest complaint is that this is a very unsoundproof hotel. Although other guests weren't noisy you could hear everything in the halls and from some of the other rooms. I'm so glad that everyone was respectful because even then the normal noises woke me up. I'm going to try the Crown Plaza next time I'm in Saint Paul.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn several times. The location is perfect, lots of restaurants with in a few blocks. Shuttle service available to other restaurants.

The staff is very helpful courteous and friendly. Never a fault in that area.

The rooms are small and on this trip our non-smoking room reeked of smoke. The staff did put a purifier in the room but the heavy smoke odor returned. . In addition the water went from hot to cold while showering. Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked and another room was not available. we changed hotels for this reason.

The bathrooms are well kept and clean. Lots of towels.

The rooms are quite and even though the Liffty is crowded you do not hear noise in your room.


The Liffty has changed its menu and not for the better. Loved the old pub menu.

I would stay here again but when booking I would mention the room problems. I feel certaiin if the hotel was not full our room would have been changed.
