“Great wedding reception venue and awesome food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

I've been to the Happy Gnome several times and we recently held our wedding reception there. The building and location are beautiful. Staff are polite, knowledgeable, and genuinely care about your experience. The food and drinks are unique and delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a smaller reception venue or a nice night out.

“Outstanding tap room in downtown St Paul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

If you're a fan of craft brew beer then this is somewhere you should visit if you're in the area. I was there in October so they had a great selection of Oktoberfest beers along with a huge variety of other beers. I thought the staff were very helpful and had a good knowledge of the beers on tap and there was a nice "old school" feel to the bar overall.

Will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

“Great Place for a Craft Beer and Appetizers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Happy Gnome is a great place to stop if you're in the mood for a craft beer ... some appetizers ... and good conversation with friends. The list of beer offerings is substantial, and the servers know these beers and can quickly steer you toward something that will satisfy your craft beer craving. The appetizers are flavorful, and the turnaround time on orders is prompt. What I love most about the Happy Gnome is that its a joint where you can feel comfortable chatting with friends while enjoying your beer. There is no rush to turn a table. You can settle in to one of the comfortable booths that line the front window and enjoy good conversation with good friends. Well worth the visit.

“Beer selection couldn't overcome issues with food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

We at Happy Gnome for the first time a couple of weeks ago, joined by friends who had a wonderful experience on prior visits. The beer list is extensive, featuring beers from around the world and an especially awesome selection of pumpkin beers - by far the best part of our evening. The group ordered the dips to share, and the appetizer was good; however, the dish wasn't served with nearly enough pita chips or crackers and we ended up having to order more. I ordered the mussels with lobster mac & cheese on the side, and was disappointed. The mussels were sandy, and the chorizo was incredibly tough in the broth. The mac & cheese had a hint of truffle oil which was delicious, but the lobster itself was over-cooked and not prevalent in the dish. My boyfriend ordered the gnocchi and topped it with grilled shrimp. Thankfully he did was the shrimp was the only good thing on his plate. The gnocchi were mushy and the sauce looked and tasted more like paste - very unappetizing, leading him to say it's the worst food he's had in Minnesota. Highly unlikely we'll ever be back.

“Favorite place in Saint Paul”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

This place is a must-go! For craft beer hounds, you can't beat the Gnome's selection and devotion to promoting local/craft brewing. Food is some of the best I've had anywhere and the best I've eaten in the Twin Cities, so far. The only downside is that it can get pretty crowded with long table waits, so try and make reservations ahead of time. Love, love Happy Gnome.
