My favorite Sunday brunch anywhere. I'll take their Tenderloin benedict with all the add-ons, anyday. Definitely worth getting out of bed on Sunday.

“Great for Pre-Theater...just not as great as I planned on!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2007

After living in St Paul for 6 years, I've finally been to the St Paul Grill! We went for dinner on a Saturday night before a performance at the Ordway.

Pros:
-Location can't be beat. Perfect for a snowy night overlooking the park. Excellent server and helpful staff. Bustling crowd makes for a fun atmosphere...but...

Cons:
-Tables are croweded too close together. Food is above average, but not by much!

What we had:
Wine (short list by the glass, about 5 each of red and white, with a much longer list of bottles).
Appetizer: calamari-unremarkable, had nice sauces, was a bit soft and chewy instead of crispy and fresh. Bread/cracker basket was good.
Dinner:
Rib Eye: great, but not the best he'd had before...came with largest order of french fries Ever!
Salmon: Fish itself was good, but sauce was way to sweet and overpowering! Was not impressed.
Parmesan crusted (halibut?): Average
Filet: Excellent
Desert:
Creme Brule: Good, standard
Chocolate Pudding Cake: Very warm and fudgy-excellent.

The overall feel: I'm glad I've been there, once. It was a good experience, but one I feel no need to repeat. The service and location are great...and the food is high quality, but wasn't prepared as well as it could have been.

But, I will be back to have breakfast again in the cafe downstairs in the hotel...that was exceptional!
