“Appreciate all the historical information of the area when the fort was in use.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2011 via mobile

We are from Arizona and were impressed with all demonstrations and information we learned from the interpreters at Fort Snelling. You can tell they were passionate and enthusiastic about knowing everything they could about the time period they were portraying. They were also great with families and the kids. This is a must see place to see if you come to St Paul.

“Beautiful in the Fall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2011

We visited this area working on the Geocaching wildlife safari series. The park was very nice with plenty of free parking. There were numerous trails and paths to go hiking/biking/rollerblading on. The people at the visitor center were very friendly and informative to talk to. We didnt actually go inside the fort but we did walk around it. If you are looking for a good place to enjoy the outdoors this is an excellent spot.

“awesome, I would highly recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

The fort's restoration was immaculate. The costumed interpretive guides were very informative and authentic. They made the experience fantastic and we would have stayed longer 2 hours if it hadn't been so hot.

“Interesting, but NOT Worth the price, unless you get a discount card!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2008

Fort Snelling is an interesting site, but if you've seen any forts before, it's not necessary to pay $10.00 per adult admission to see this one. A fort is a fort is a fort: built per the standards of the U.S. Gov't, as all forts were, if you've seen one fort, then you've seen this one.

It's nice, because this one is made 90% of stone, where as other forts were usually made of wood. All the buildings here, except for the enlisted barracks are comprised of stone: why? Because this fort was in the prairie and stone was convenient. It wasn't too far from a quarry.

We only went, for lack of anything better to do, and the fact that we had a St. Paul Fun card that let us get in at 2 for the price of 1 admission. This valuable card comes in a visitor package or can be downloaded from the st. Paul visitor site. I say use it, because Fort Snelling is not worth the admission price, unless you're really into Forts. Get the card and it'll be worth your time and effort and will kill about 2 hours. There's ample parking and a picnic area, but no trash cans, which explains trash on the grassy areas around the tables. For a historic site, you'd think they'd care about supplying trash cans.
