Totally child friendly place. Everything is at their level and interactive. Kids are learning while they play. Has always been a favorite

“Great Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

The pint size town is a must see. The dinosaur exhibit was great but could have been more informative. The Earth sounds exhibit was closed due to a child "accident" eww.

“An afternoon of fun and sensory exploration”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

We live about an hour away so we usually only visit the museum annually. My children are now 7 and 10 and we just came back from our spring break visit. My kids played so hard in the 4 hours we were there they both fell into bed exhausted that night. Their favorite areas are the ant town, the shipping/receiving area, the water area, and the mock-town where they could pretend to run a grocery store, a restaurant, and a number of other occupations. They also love the little art room, which has various activities.

At $10 per person young or old, it can get to be a bit expensive. They will validate your parking ticket if you park in their garage, which saved about $4 off of the parking fee. If you live close by it might be worth it to look into a membership to save money over the course of a year. One nice thing is they have a coat room to hang coats so you don't have to spend money on a locker rental (come to think of it, I can't remember seeing lockers- if that's a concern best to call and ask).

It can get crowded so if that's a concern I'd recommend calling to ask for best days and times to avoid crowds.

One minor quibble, I wish the gift shop had more kid-friendly prices so kids could spend some of their own money (mine love to shop on their own). Everything in there is way over priced.

“A great museum for young children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014 via mobile

We have been to the children's museum twice, and had a great time with each experience. It is easy to find in St. Paul, and signs direct you to the nearest parking ramp. The museum has activities for all likes and abilities. I recommend checking out their website and calendar for special activity days. We went on a day when they were featuring animals. My children (ages 4 and 6) enjoyed meeting service dogs, listening to a Veterinarian speak, and they even pet a rat! Be sure to explore all levels of the museum. We brought a lunch from home. They have a sitting area with tables and vending machines.

“A Full Day of Fun for Small Children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

This is an excellent children's museum, especially for preschool and young elementary kids. It is beautiful, bright, spacious, and well-designed for keeping an eye on kids because the exhibits are separated with one main atrium space. It has the regular children's museum offerings: (a nice, big) mini city, water/bubbles, nature room, toddler rooms, light play, etc. It also has a beautiful rooftop garden open in warmer months, a hands-on art room (not always open), and reading space. I like that they sell a bit of food but also encourage you to bring your own lunch and provide a space for eating. There is a "no group" Tuesday, so you can avoid field trips, though you will encounter a lot of strollers that day. Make sure to park in the ramp kitty corner across the street and get your parking validated, then it is only $4.
