I have been to the Science Museum of Minnesota at least 8 times. I have never gotten tired of it. I once had a membership, and I would consider getting another one. I've been on a fieldtrip with all 1st graders and they loved it. I've gone with adults and teenagers. There is something interesting for everybody. I have gone on weekdays and weekends, and the crowd was never a problem. If you are looking for something for the very young, toddlers through 1st grade, then the Children's Museum is great. Older kids would quickly get bored there. The Science Museum is for everybody. I can't believe there are any negative reviews.

This museum has poor crowd control.
The lines are too long & there is no customer service.
The staff has little knowledge of the exhibits.
Other museums in the twin cities area are much better--skip this one!

It was our second time to the Science Museum in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, and we were not disappointed. It doesn't matter where you live in the U.S., the trek to Minnesota is so well worth it. We had gone to the museum when it was just my husband and I years and years ago and really had an enjoyable, enlightening time. We took our kids this last time and they didn't want to leave after 4 hours. There are so many interactive things to do. Our kids got hands-on experience with every conceivable scientific theory you can imagine. It's just not like any other science museum. Everything from making a tornado (from floor to ceiling) to seeing real hearts or brains or watching a scientist work with nitroglycerin. You can easily spend a whole day there. A plus is that the food served in the cafeterias is really good and you enjoy nice views while eating. They have IMAX movies, too. One of the things we really enjoy about St. Paul is that the roads/streets are so nice and wide. The St. Croix River and the Mississippi River are right there, too, so beauty surrounds the area. As per usual, we didn't get to do everything we wanted to. Too many things to do in Minnesota, I guess. You could spend a week there and still not cover everything. The zoo was very nice, too, but I like the Madison, Wisconsin zoo (where we're from) even better. We burned some calories at the zoo, though. Any questions on what to do in Minnesota, just post a question and I'll get it.

“Good overall but kids not too impressed”

We went in Aug 2006. I thought it was good and enjoyed it. My 7 year old liked it although it was not as fun as the children's museum of minnesota. We loved the omnitheater! We went to the Body Worlds traveling exhibit and it was overpriced and very crowded. I wouldn't see the Body Worlds exhibit again but I would go back to the Science museum.

The SMM is an incrediably amazing place to see! We visit it yearly and can spend a day there each time. (The first time I think we spent 2 days) It is a great educational (yet fun) experience for kids of all ages. The 3D show and omnitheater are a must see. They change certain exhibits a few times a year, so you can go and see something new each year. Visit their website before visiting so you can choose which omnitheater, 3D shows, and special exhibits interest you most.

Have a great visit!
(Dont forget to see the real mummy) :0)
