The Olive Garden is a beautifully designed restaurant and menu. The food is good, the portions are full and, if you like vegetables, the "Endless Salad" is a bargain at $6.50/person. The ingredients are fresh and their house dressing is amazing: able to transform ordinary iceburg lettuce into a meal to remember. The limit to this promise of bounty is the service. My wife and I went there for dinner and told everyone that we were going to a film that started at 7:30 pm. We were seated in about 15 minutes as promised, and then the trouble began. It took 5 minutes for water to arrive. Another 5 minutes, and 1 request, finally brought our server. Another 7 or 8 minutes and our salad bowl arrive and was duly served. Beyond that point, we were on our own: to get a second serving, to get a check required that one of us get up and search the restaurant for our server. We left a 15% tip but, if we were to charge for our time and frustration, the server would have owed us a couple bucks. Would we go back? Not at dinner time (5 pm to 7 pm). And if we do, we'll have a talk with our server before the meal begins.
