I come to the Twin Cities twice a year for two weeks for seminary classes. My classmates and I decided to share a hotel room for our stay in February 2007, and we settled upon the Residence Inn. Though we actually only stayed for four nights rather than our original plan for the entire two weeks because we found a much cheaper option, our stay was very nice.
The hotel has free parking. The lobby is very nice, with comfortable seating and a gas fireplace. The folks at the front desk were absolutely wonderful and completely helpful, and that includes about five or six different people with whom we had conversation during our stay. The indoor pool was nice, and the hot tub was fantastic. Every morning, they serve a complimentary breakfast that is quite decent by hotel standards, including multiple hot food options like scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, etc. And every evening, they serve a hot snack that was sufficient to serve as our dinner. On Wednesday evenings, they also serve a full dinner. And they provide a free newspaper and complimentary toiletries, as needed.
As far as the room, we had a one-bedroom suite, which offered a queen bed in the bedroom and a pull-out couch in the living room. There was a full kitchen with sink, stovetop, microwave, and full-size fridge. The bathroom had the shower and toilet in a separate room from the sink, which is always nice to facilitate multiple people getting ready in the morning. There was a TV in the living room and another TV in the bedroom. Though others have complained about the internet speed, they must have made some significant upgrades, because we had no problems, and we were on the internet for much of our stay.
In all honesty, I'd be hard-pressed to identify a problem during our stay. The only reason that we left was because we wanted to save some money. We got a group rate of $94 for our one-bedroom suite, which was certainly reasonable but a bit too spendy for these poor graduate students over two weeks. If I had the funds, I'd love to stay at this hotel in the future and highly recommend it to others.
