“Great american indian food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2012

Super good american indian food. Rich and buttery, consistent and fast. Nothing fancy, nothing expensive.

The restaurant was clean, the staff was kind, and very helpful with the menu items.

“Consistently good food and service with an ethnic twist”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

My husband and I are vegetarian so Indian food is one of our easy selections when we don't want to cook. India Garden has been one of our favorites for years. The service is consistently good and we have never had a problem with the food. I'll admit our choices are fairly limited if we stay in Rochester, and that's a given on work nights. There is another Indian restaurant in town - the food is okay and the service at the other restaurant is agonizingly slow. So we always come back to India Garden where we know we will get a good meal at a fair price and with friendly service.

If you want a full meal the thali is the way to go - you get 3 curries (chef's choice), rice, soup, raita, rice pudding, pickle and naan. Or if you prefer to order individual dishes the food is served family style and everyone can share (similar to many Chinese restaurants). We are especially fond of vegetable pakora and mango lassi, and we have tried every vegetarian entree more than once.

There are many dishes for meat eaters using chicken, lamb and shrimp. We often bring friends or suggest India Garden for group outings knowing everyone can find something they like.

“It is ok!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2011

We saw a couple of websites for reviews about this place and thought we should check it out. Although, the food quality was ok, they didn't know the difference between daal makhani and dal tadka (initially they brought paneer gravy and said it was daal makhani :))! Also, don't attempt to order an Indian tea if you are genuinely looking for home made Indian tea. Overall an ok place, not great though.

“BEST INDIAN FOOD I've ever had!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2011

The atmosphere was quiet and intimate. Some of the decor is a bit gaudy (think fake flowers) but the food and the service was AMAZING! I have never had better Indian food and I've been to ~6 Indian restaurants in the last few years (all in the Midwest). The prices were reasonable (most entrees around $10-13 although you can spend more and less if you want). Vegetable samosas were DELICIOUS. Portions are reasonably generous.
